Anyone still waiting to hear if you got in nursing school for the spring?

I'm still hear waiting to find out. It won't be at least the end of the month until I'll get my letter. I'm not sure at all if I'll get in or not. I wish I can know sooner so I can start preparing. Anyone else waiting?

Wow, they don't give you much time to prepare yourself if you are accepted. We found out mid-October. There are so many vaccines you need to get, books and supplies that you need to purchase, it will be tough to do all that in one month.

I hope you get accepted!

I'm still waiting to hear if I got in for May 2004...I think the letters go out in December sometime. Good luck!

Oh Cynthiann, you porr thing!

I'd be going crazy if I still didn't know if I was accepted for January!

What type of program are you in? Do you start clinicals right away? I ask because in PA we have to have CPR and background checks (which can take up to 8 weeks) along with our medical (phys & vax's) and dental exams done BEFORE we can start clinicals.

I hope you find out you're in soon! :D And I hope you can get all this stuff done and still have a nice Christmas/Hannukah(sp?) too!

God bless,

That's what I'm worried about, if I do get in I have so much to get done. On my advisement paper for the nursing program it says we must provide proof of our immunizations before enrolling in classes. It says that there may be a background check and we also have to be CPR certified. I'm taking a CPR class this weekend. I better start finding my vaccination records and figure out what else I need to get now so if I do get in I won't be waiting to enroll.

This is an ADN program. I've heard that clinicals start the 2nd 8-weeks for the semester, so we don't start right away.

I don't expect the letter to come until after Thanksgiving, so these next 1-2 weeks are going to be hard to wait.

If you're clinicals don't start until then, you will be fine with the b/g checks.

As for vax's, here's what my school requires (I'm sure its pretty standard)...

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 doses if born after 1957). If no record of vax, titer to show immunity.

Tetorifice (within last 10 years).

Polio (vax and type of vax administered or titer to show immunity).

Hep. B (must have 2 shots 1 month apart by 1st clinical - 3rd shot is administered 4 months after 2nd shot).

Varicella (record of vaccine or disease) If history unknown then titer to show immunity.

TB test.

Blood CBC/RPR

Urinalysis

General Physical and Dental Exam.

I think that's pretty much it. Although I feel like I'm missing a vax or two (paperwork is out in car and I'm on the third floor).

Make sure you're taking CPR for Healthcare Workers. It's not community CPR it is the Healtcare workers one and it is 9 hours I think.

Prayin' for your acceptance letter! Can't believe they're making you wait until after Thanksgiving!!!

I go to the same school as Cynthia and after reading these posts I can't believe our school makes us wait so long and they don't give much time to prepare before classes start :( I guess I never thought about it until just now. And its pretty mean that they send out the letters around thanksgiving time.

I think I'm going to start preparing at least with vaccinations and my records of them after the first of the year in hopes I get in in the fall so I won't have to rush so much.

Cynthia good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

You know I was really thinking about that today. Why do they do it so close to the beginning of the semester? It's to much to do in 1.5 months and during Christmas break. Well, that is if I do get in. Every semester it's much more difficult to get in the program.

That CPR class I'm taking is at my CC. I just checked the description in the school catalog and it says it's for healthcare providers.

As far as vaccinations, here's what they list that we must have proof of before enrolling in nursing classes:

1. Rubeola titer or proof of two MMR immunizations received after the age of one year.

2. Rubella titer or proof of two MMR immunizations received after the age of one year.

3. Varicella Titer (two vaccinations at least one month apart)

4. PPD within the last year

5. Hepatitis B titer

I don't know if there could be more but that's what they list on the advisement paper.

I was told yesterday by one of my classmates that they are mailing the letters out today. I guess I will know something by the end of the week. I wonna say I'm nervous but I'm putting it all in God's hands. I have been praying like crazy! Well, as soon as I find out I will let you guys know. Good luck to youCynthiann! I hope nothing but good news comes your way!

I just found out on Monday, they actually called me at 9am Friday morning, asked me to come down at 9:30am. I have so much to do, classes start Jan.5th! And they told me they still had a lot of people to contact--makes me worried they are so disorganized!

Sunshineclarity,

Congratulations on getting accepted!!!
