The reason I ask is because although I will definitely study hard for the boards, I wasnt all that worried about it bc I am a good test taker and am pretty good at picking "the best answer" through common sense most of the time. My concern is that recently they have created different types of questions on the boards, specifically "check all that apply" type questions that are wrong if u dont check all of the right ones, and also an X marks the spot type of thing where u put an x at the right position to place things. Now Im starting to worry because I wonder if they are only throwing in a few of those or if a lot of the test will be like this.
If anyone has taken the boards in the last few months, please share your experience. thanks in advance!

The Boards was the worst experience of my life. At 75 when it cut off, I was almost in tears because I wanted more chances to show that I knew what I was talking about. Somehow, when I called the next day, I passed. None of the content I studied was on there, it was more about being in a situation you've never heard of......what should you do. I got two check all that apply. I had 5 fill in the blanks but they were all med calc, drips, and calculate input and output. Those were easy. I didn't get any picture ones. My advice is to do practice questions and not really worry about content so much.

I took my boards almost two months ago... I got one "check all that apply" and one fill in the blank. The fill in the blank was a calculation, and the check all that apply was a tough one. I don't remember exactly what the Q was, but it listed a bunch of symptoms & asked you ID the disease... I got 75 questions in all.

I just took mine yesterday. I had 3 multiple answer type questions - all of them had something to do with S/E of drugs. I had 2 fill in the blank - both of them med calculations. I did not have any of the "place the X on....". My test shut off after 90-something questions.

Did the number of minimum questions change for NCLEX-PN? It used to be 85 not 75. 75 is the minimum for the NCLEX-RN.
Just curious.

NCLEX-PN is 85, NCLEX-RN is 75. Nothing's changed.

I took mine 2 weeks ago yesterday and am still waiting to see if I passed!!! GRRR!!! LOL I had 2 pick all that apply and 2 fill in the blank I&O questions. The new format is only 5%-10% of your boards if you get any at all. The rest of mine were pick the best answer and my computer shut off at 85. So far all my classmates that have taken it, they shut off at 85-90 and all passed. So I am pulling my hair out waiting for that envelope! If you can, get the Kaplan RN book, even if you are taking the LPN boards. It is the closest example I've seen to how the boards will really be like, recommended to me by several RN's. Relax, breathe and just do your best! Good Luck!!
Oops! My bad... it was indeed 85 questions! Sorry about the faux pas :)

I took the NCLEX last Monday and I had 85 questions. I had about 3 check all that apply and 2-3 fill in the blank, which basically was calculations. So didn't get that many. Just keep up the studying and try not to worry.

I took mine last Saturday. It shut off at 85 too. I had what seemed like a alot of "pick all that apply" type of questions--alot of scenario's where you have to pick the first patient to see (those weren't too bad). I only had one math question and that was to convert ounces into ml's. I didn't think I passed because it seemed like I got hit with alot of hard questions--well I did pass, and the reason for the hard questions must have been because I was doing better than what I thought I was. Well at any rate, good luck! Just do some practice questions and you should be fine.
