Hello all,

Congrats to those who have received placement in the GN programs. I am new to this thread, but been on all nurses for a while now. I will graduate with my BSN from UCF in August 2011. Just wondering when is a good time to start applying for GN programs. I read somewhere that you could apply up to 6 months in advance for FL Hospital's GN program. I applied, but got rejected. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I still have one semester to complete (summer), and others who applied are already RNs. Any advice on when you should start applying, and should I apply again closer to August?

Flybritt58,

I be in the UCF Summer 2012 entering class and graduating in August 2013. I was wondering, now that it is Nov. 2011, have you been accepted to anywhere yet? Got a job? How long did it take to get a job? What is your starting salary? I want to prepare myself for what to expect when I graduate.

Hey Everyone,

I have a question to those who applied and recieved a phone interview; when did you apply( were you still in school with three to two months left?). I want to start applying to the GN program but I still have the summer semester which is three months. When would be the best time for me to apply? Right now I'm doing my clinical rotation at FH and I am hoping to do my practicum there also. It would be great if you guys can help :)

Has anyone else recently applied to this program? Or have any current information about it? I graduate in May 2012 and just applied.

I'm working on an application for Florida Hospital. Could anyone tell me how to address the cover letter? I'm having a difficult time finding a name or any contact information. I hate to address it Dear Hiring Manager.

Also, when applying for the new graduate program, at what point do we indicate in which area we'd like to work? I've fallen in love with the OR. Should my cover letter mention that specifically, or should it just explain why I'd like to work for Florida Hospital in general?

Thanks!

There is a section on the application that allows you to select up to 6 specialties that you would prefer to work in (OR is included). If you're only interested in OR, I would tailor the cover letter that way, but if you are willing to work in other specialties, I would try to keep it general. Hope that helps!

I am reading this post on April 2012 and I realize that the post regarding Florida Hospitals is from 2009.

Does anyone know if they are better to work for now?

I live in South Florida, graduating next week and will prepare fof my boards for three months while I work in the same place I have for over 20 years. My present employer is not too happy I am graduating as a nurse, guess he thought I would be there forever.

I know the hiring of new graduates will be a challenge and I was looking at Florida Hospitals as a way for me to start somewhere.

If anyone has any ideas, I will welcome them. Jackson Memorial is going through a financial crisis so the idea of working there is out and there is apparently a hiring freeze at Memorial. So please send ideas my way.

Hugs.

Has anyone recently applyed? How long does it take to hear back?

I am a fairly new nurse with 6 months experience I was laid off from Jackson memorial after completing the internship because of those financial budge cuts, they laid off all the new nurses and new GNs. Avoid that hospital like the plague! Terrible management and very unsafe practices due to the understaffing. I have an interview coming up this week in Florida hospital in winter park it took about 3 months to hear from them so be patient :-)

Florida Hospital In Orlando is usually hiring new grads at all locations. I heard Altamonte and Celebration were the best location. East is the worst of the worst. Here is a heads up it is faith based for those who are unfamiliar with the system. ORMC is not hiring a lot.

Hello, I was wondering how long it took you to hear back from Florida Hospital after your interview with them? what was their reply?
