I have also been looking for an online LPN to BSN program. I'm worried how clinicals work with online. Do you have to find a hospital near you or fly somewhere? Does anyone know which schools are mostrecommended? I've heard good things about Western Governers from past students, but they weren't nursing students.

WGU does not offer LPN to BSN only RN to BSN. ISU clinicals are done locally provided you can find a willing facility

I'm probably going to end up messaging you too. I am going to be done with my LPN in the Spring of 16'. Looking into ISU, and know a current nurse who went through this track. I am just wondering how the whole cirriculum was structured for you? All online classes besides clinicals? How often were clinicals? Thanks so much!

All courses are online. I think all in all, there might be 300 clinical hours, stretched out across the courses. I have not started yet but have applied for spring. They do not honor this program in many states, as far as supervising clinicals, but grads can work in any state. It looks to be a good program, far better than Excelsior. Excelsior is not accepted in my home state of California, which I plan to return to in a few years. Let me know if you have more questions.

Unfreaking believable! Nobody should support this type of tuition-gouging. This isn't med school, with a guarantee of a six-figure salary!!

ISU is not accepted by CABRN. You won't be able to work as an RN in CA with the LPN to BSN from ISU.

I do not think that is true. I think they don't do the program in Cali anymore. I don't think it's that they don't take grads anymore from other states. The problem with Excelsior is that there are no supervised clinicals. There ARE supervised clinicals with ISU. If you know something different that what i am saying, I would love to know. I want to know where you got your info. It would help me tremendously. Can you share where you learned this.

From ISU website

Quote

In California, all ISU undergraduate and graduate online programs are available EXCEPT for the following:

Driver Education Licensure Program

LPN/LVN to BS Program

School Administration Post-Master's Non-Degree Licensure Program

Visual Impairment Graduate Licensure Program

And: http://cms.indstate.edu/health/sites/health.indstate.edu/files/bnc-lpn-bs-approving-states.pdf CABRN does not recognize this program

You can always contact CABRN before you proceed.

They are VERY hard to reach. they never gave me a straight asnwer about Excelsior, so I am not sure if they will about ISU. Thanks for the info. I need to do more research.

Excelsior's information is specific and listed on the board of registered nursing website. ISU was a major court case in 2012.

Specializes in Head & Neck Surgery.

That is correct. As of now, ISU is no longer available to licensed vocational nurses in California. Hopefully, more LVN-BSN programs become available in the future. Best of Luck!

But if I am already grandfathered into the program, shouldn't I be able to be licensed in my state, then transfer my license to CA? I thought they just weren't doing the program in Cali anymore.
