I received a letter today saying I was nominated to be in Cambridge's Who's Who. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Did it say something like "Who's Who in Nursing"?
Nevermind. I just did a google and turns out it is a scam.
They ask for a $899 registration fee.

Yup, it's a scam, my Mom got one, and she's dead.
They do them for different professions as well.

The ironic thing is that a google search turns up several people listing this "honor" in their biographies/resumes. If someone is naive enough to pay $899 to be listed in some random book... they probably aren't someone likely to turn up in a genuine "Who's Who". :)

My microbio prof nominated me for a "Who's Who" award for outstanding student merit and leadership. The award was presented to me at a college honors ceremony, and I was never asked to pay for anything.
I was talking about the one mentioned in the OP from Cambridge, which appears to be a scam to make you pay hundreds of dollars to be listed.
Congrats on your award.
