Anyone hear from SUNY Downstate for Summer '09 yet?

I applied in September and haven't heard, it's pretty frustrating as they said I would hear by January.

So at this point, I wonder if I should just enroll in those Sociology/Anthropology courses. I would want to learn the stuff since I think it would be interesting to read more on societies and communities and all... but I think shelling out more more dough for courses (that I wouldn't necessarily use directly with my future profession) would be a bit difficult. If it were a course in say, pharmacology or medical terminology or whatnot, then I would want to take those just to learn the material.. still.. I'm just bummed....

I CLEPed sociology and anthropology. I bought a used textbook online for very cheap, read through it, took some practice tests and passed the CLEPs with high scores.

ChayaN! Thank you so so much for this info. I will def look into this! I am goign to see if I should just read the textbooks and then see if I can take these tests once I find out if I;m in.. if I can self-schedule the CLEP I'd just take both in the same day and get them over and done with. I had no idea! Thankyou!

The only thing l have to tell you is to be patient. Once you've completed all your pre-requisites with good grades, pass the NET exam, have good cumulative GPA with Health care or Volunteer experience, then pray and leave the rest for God. Eventually, you will get a good news. l got in last 3 weeks. Good-luck!

Well I've done all that, have a 4.0 GPA, 93% cumulative NET, health care volunteer experience... so I'm just wondering what was lacking in my application that I haven't been accepted yet.

What did you score in the NET exam for reading comprehension and Math?. l know for reading comprehension, you must score 60 and above. Math score should be 65 and above.

So on the NET I got a 93% on the math, Reading Comp 85% and 93% on the Basic science. I also sent them my GRE scores which I am happy with also... but I suppose they're not just looking for standardized test scores since they still haven't gotten back to me!!!

I scored 100% math and 85% Reading comp on the NET.

I didn't send them my GRE scores since it wasn't requested in the application, but I scored 800 verbal and 750 math.

The scores are great but do you know if your application has been forwarded to the Accelerated Nursing Program?. lf you've completed all your pre-requisites, the Admissions Committee are suppose to be contacting you within two months.

tanguera, your scores are good enough. make sure you keep calling them to get an update on your application. the admissions might not give the answers your looking for, but do not give up! keep calling and you will get an answer through the mail.

I just got my acceptance letter to Suny Downstate today:bowingpur!

Congratulations! I wonder if you got it by regular mail or by e-mail? And, when do they want you to notify them of your decision? They said at an info session that they would give you two weeks to accept/reject the offer. But is there an open house for accepted students before they can decide?

I actually already sent in my deposit for Columbia so I could get the ball rolling with the enrollment process there and b/c I think it's a great school... but if SUNY DOwnstate did come knocking on my door with a lot cheaper tuition, I'd have to rethink Columbia.

Congratulations again!

Congratulations! See you on orientation and registration day.
