I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Flbrowneyedgirl, hope you feel better soon! I just am now getting over a upper resp infection. No fun at all especially in the summer.
It's only June 17th and I keep anticipating a letter and checking the mail.... I'm mostly keeping busy with studying Microbiology. I hope someone hears something soon, maybe next week? Wishful thinking I guess lol
Yasmin, no worries at all. I was just shocked and felt stupid myself, for a quick second thinking I was at class on the wrong day or time. I have that fear, which is dumb!
I keep thinking to myself that if in fact denial letters are sent first, then every day I don't get something is a good sign, no?? LOL HA!!!
Who's gonna be the guninea and call the school to find out the status on letters??
Hi, I am kinda new to this site, I finished the Rn bridge in May and remember being in the boat you are all in now, the miserable/dreaded wait. Now I am just doing the miserable/dreaded NCLEX wait. I thought I would just drop my two cents in about the hospital sponsorships. If you are not working in a hospital now, or have limited medical experience, GET A SPONSORSHIP AS SOON AS YOU CAN! When I went though the only ones available were though Oak Hill Hospital. Community wasn't even sponsoring their own employees, just giving them tuition reimbursement.(It does not hurt to call all the hospitals you want to work before hand and ask them, I did.) Anyhow long story short, after the first semester when I realized there was no way I could work full time and go to school,I took one with Oak Hill. They paid for all my nursing classes, books ($1700 new), uniforms, stethoscope and stuff that was on the "recommended list" (b/p cuff, scissors, etc.) and I have to give them two years back. 1 year has to be at Oak Hill, then I can either stay there or transfer to another HCA hospital. If I break the contact I have to pay them back. (interest free in payments) I went all year thinking I made a mistake and sold myself to the devil. That was until we graduated and my friends from class had hard time getting entry level full time hospital jobs a hospitals.
Everybody is so excited about getting in (I was too.) Once you are in you will be counting the days until you finished, but luckily it goes by real fast. GOOD LUCK!!
Aww, Alicia. You know, view it as "it is what it is". You've applied! Your TEAS was a really good score! You did your best! I know it's hard to wait. But now it is out of your hands (mine, too...lol...I need to take my advice next time I wake up in a cold sweat, certain of being rejected!!), so feel at peace until you find out :)
hang in there!
When are the MP ladies going to meet at the Brass Tap--before letters or after...or BOTH?
Jenn
I think I'm going to call Admissions on Monday or just take a walk over there to see what's going on with the letters. I'm soooo scared, nervous, and full of doubt....I just want it over already!
Alicia, I really think you're definitely going to get into the LPN with your TEAS score!!! I know girls who applied for LPN and all their scores were in the 70's range! So I don't think you have anything to worry about at all! :) Goodluck!
Deporter, thanks so much for all the info and support! It always helps to hear from someone who's been through it already. :)
Let us know what you find out, Hopeful! I am going to see if I can find out when orientation for nursing school is... That way at least we are prepared for the date. This all seems so last minute to me. BTW I am already obsessively checking my mail everyday. I even checked it yesterday (Sunday) lol.
Okay, so I just got off the phone with the Admissions department at the West campus and they said we should know something by mid-July. They also don't have a set date for orientation until after the letters go out. :nuke:
As for the Brass Tap, I've never been there! I also kind of want to check out Aja at Wiregrass, that looks cool. And PrimeBar!

I think the entire process falls under "cruel and unusual" punishment :) lol, okay, not really, but... I do think that telling myself not to expect to hear anything until July 10th or so has really helped. I can't believe I am successfully playing a head game on myself!
Personally, I am having a hard time because now my kids are out for summer but I still have a class (Gordon rule) to prepare for. Oh and I woke up with a Upper Resp infection this morning. Not. Fun.
Everyone else staying busy?
