Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

Um, YEAH! lol I was so excited! Then I got scared because it was a skinny envelope. Then I tore it open and was disappointed. So many emotions in about 20 seconds. My poor heart!

Oh, and Sam? You can post on here as much as you want, we want feedback and insight into the program! Tell us everything you know! And can you confirm they are having students wear all white scrubs? Plus, what do we need for first semester? I know we will find out everything in orientation but I wanna know nowwwww.

What's the Ambassador's Letter and why did I not get one? That's making me feel deeply concerned...help...:crying2:

Please do not be concerned. It was just a letter saying we could apply to basically be a volunteer for the school to help with events and stuff they need people for. You have to volunteer at least 10 hours a week and 100 hours a semester! I think we won't have time to do that with nursing school and work. It was just a general letter they sent out, so don't worry. Nothing to do with nursing school, unfortunately :(

LOL--thanks. I will refocus my worrying back to acceptance letters :)

Yasmin, that's CRAZY! I sit to the left of your friend Christina in the front row and my name is also Christina. Guess I will see you Monday! HOw cool!

And do not be worried about the Ambassador thing. In theory, it sounds nice, especially when they pay you. But who has an extra 100 hours per semester, nursing school or not? Not me!!! lol

LOL that is crazy, what a small world! I think I know who you are now. Dr. Spaz is always looking at you lol! So how are you liking Microbiology? I find it very interesting! It's going by fast too, can't believe only 5 1/2 more weeks left yay!!

The first day of class, my friends and I walked in and had to sit in the back because it was full! After that, we started putting our stuff in there before morning lab, which we have. I would be asleep if I sat in the back!

Actually, I am really, really liking it. I took it about 10 years ago and LOATHED it. But I think I was in a different place then. Now I find it very interesting. I definitely look at hand washing, counter cleaning and other stuff in a totally different light, for sure.

I wish it would go by quicker! I am paying a fortune in babysitters to come to these two classes! And I might be picking up that PSY class here in another 2 weeks. Yikes!!!

Hey everyone! I loved micro....such fond memories....you should watch this Animal Planet show called "monsters inside me" ( i think). I try to guess what the people have from what I learned in Micro. It is fun and I will admit I am pretty good. So as far as nursing school. Yes you have to wear all white....horrible right. The pants aren't very particular, but the top is only allowed to be a specific style. It is in the student handbook on the website. The white was pretty awful on lunch break. I personally invested in both Tide and Clorox to go pens. I would find a good pair of white shoes to break in now (your feet will thank you), a nice stethoscope (play with it at home), and some sort of organizer. Organization will help, trust me. Read and work ahead when possible as time for final exams comes up you will be glad to have the time for studying! Good luck and hopefully we will hear soon that you were all accepted!

I heard from a NS student the other day in Micro that denial letters get sent out first. :uhoh3:

Uh that sucks! I'm hoping for at least an alternate even if I don't get in, it's something! It'll make me feel at least I was close and then January it's on!

Chris, sorry I sat in your seat in lab. I felt embarrassed. :( One of the girl's at your lab bench said the 4th seat was free so I sat there. My friend Christina didn't understand how we knew each other and was getting confused, lol. But anyway it was nice to meet you. :)

Denial letters out first? It's kind of hard to believe that we have about 3 weeks left. Sometimes I feel like it's forever and other times I feel like it's coming way too fast! I find myself checking the mail everyday hoping for some early news, though :)

How is your time passing this summer?
