Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

plus...possibility of a CARPOOL :) yay.

Yayyy that would be nice because 45-55 minutes each way stinks.

Seriously, this forum is making the time go by just a little easier.

How true. We need to take the little things and be grateful :) For example, I just did a degree audit (LOL--yes, I am a dork!) and it made me happy seeing all of those A's, and the only thing missing from the audit were nursing courses :D

It is really nice to start giving support to one another. Thank you, allnurses!

Hey I live in M.P. Anyone want to meet for drinks and dessert one night? ;).

(is that too forward? Do I seem like a weird stalker person now?? Lol)

Um, you said dessert, Dessert is never creepy. I'm down :)

Drinks=also not creepy. Count me in :)

Does anyone know anything about the sponsorship at the hospitals?? Now I am super interested in it because does it entail them paying for part of school?

From what I've read, as soon as you have an acceptance letter in hand, contact the hospital and get it going. There are very few sponsorships. Aside from that, I know nothing.

Maybe one of the current nursing students knows more??

I tried looking on the hospital websites, but I couldn't find anything. I am also thinking of doing a CNA class so I can work while in school. The way I saw the schedule I would have Sat, Sun and Mon with no school so I could work those days... I know you can be a CNA after your first semester in nursing school, but I NEED to work. Any thoughts on this?

I think the CNA idea is an excellent one. You gain experience, you get to work. It is such a win-win. The downside is...working while in school. But if you have to, then...again, I know I say this alot...but it is what it is. I will want to work next summer for the same reasons.

You are right. There is nothing easily available on the hospital's sites. My best suggestion would be to call and ask at school. See if they will offer anything up, a contact name, etc. Then make a few phone calls :)

I work at Florida Hospital Z-hills. If you are an employee, they have tuition reimbursement. There is a 2 year work agreement once you graduate. But it's probably worth it given how much trouble nurses are having finding jobs. We have quite a few PHCC nursing students at the hospital who are using it.

I know FHZ also has a GN program. Not sure if that is the same thing or something different.

Quick question to everyone. So what have you been all hearing about grades and TEAS scores?
