Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

I def don't want to retake A&P or the lab unless I have to!! There is a PSY class starting June 23rd running to 8/3. If I get an A, then that would bump me up to a 3.69. Still not great, but better. Then I could reapply for Spring. But my only concern is not getting an A. I am already taking Micro and lab and the PSY would be SO fast. Just 5 weeks, so basically a test every week. Would you take the chance? If I take a class any later than now, I will be delayed a full year to apply (class in fall '10, can't apply til spring for Fall '11)

I say go for it! Psych isn't hard! Just commit yourself to a minimester of Hell and know that going in... You'll end out on top come August :) The only thing I would be concerned for is if you do end up getting in for Fall then you would have wasted time/money on the class but... I still say it's worth it.

I really doubt I will get in for fall. I see the writing on the wall for what it is. But should hell freeze and armageddon come, then I would hope that the letters get here sooner rather then later and I would still have time to drop it. Looks like that day is 6/29. Hmmmm....

MJ has good points, Chris--it could benefit you (but be a tad stressful) but it could be a waste of time if you do get in with what you have (and...again, have been stressful). Did you already start Micro?

MJ, I got your message--I can't reply for a few more posts :). I currently am at the East campus. That drive to West is LONG...it is what it is but yikes. I'm taking Ethics this summer. I hope it gets more interesting today...lol.

Even that feels forever away. Maybe we will get lucky and they will send out the letters at the end of the month. I still haven't gotten my LPN letters saying that they got my applications. But that's probably because I turned it in on May 27th.

FLbrowneyedgirl, I live at the very bottom of Wesley Chapel so I guess they are both about the same distance for me to drive to. Then again, I work in Spring Hill so I am used to hour long commutes each way  I've never been to the East campus before, is it nice? I don't care where I get in to, as long as I get in. I hear they designate your campus at orientation? Also, I just took Ethics this past semester. It was okay, I got a B in it because I was focusing so much on A&P and Nutrition. The Gordon Rule writing is what threw me. I thought I had left that behind me years ago!

I have mid-July in my mind already so anything sooner will be a total bonus :). I am NOT Little Miss Sunshine, so I view this as progress. It is going to be really interesting to see how this pans out.

I mentioned this already, but no one took me up on it :) Who wants to start a Fall 2010 thread with GPA's and TEAS? That way, when we do get letters (regardless of what they say) we can easily refer back to that thread. We might out some more lurkers that way, too!

There was one similar thread started by Chris

But you can feel free to start your own! You know I would post lol

I hear you re: Gordon Rule! Thankfully, I like to write, but super annoying to HAVE to again. How about an exemption status due to already having a bachelor's? Right? The professor is very cool, so that helps.

I like the East Campus. It's very small but..nice. And it's like Cheers--everyone knows your name, lol. I bet you and I live close to each other. I'm more New Tampa than Wesley Chapel proper, imho. I did hear that about campus assignments, too. But then, I guess there are certain semesters only offered at specific campuses. The thing I really want to know about (hope I am not putting the cart before the horse...) is hospitals for clinicals. I have no clue about this! Any thoughts?

I wonder the same thing about clinical sites. I think it's Brooksville and Oak Hill Hospitals for East Campus and Community Hospital at New Port Richey for West. I'm not sure if there are more, but that's what I've heard. Also, I've heard about sponsorship with certain hospitals? Does anyone know anything about this?

I also live in New Tampa/Wesley Chapel! ****** ****** is the name of my little area. Please don't come and kill me. (I blurred out the name lol)

Okay, I posted on the other thread with my GPA and TEAS info :)

LOL MJ! (The name of your neighborhood sounds VERY FAMILIAR....I wonder why that could be? LOL) :lol2:

lol Awesome. Study buddies!
