I submitted my nursing application back in May. I never attended MJC, and on Tuesday I got an email from Admission and Records saying that I was accepted to their school. Did anyone else get an email similar to the one I got?

Usually afer filling out an online application to the college (or submitting one in the mail) they email you a confirmation that you are accepted. This is not the nursing acceptance. The letter for the nursing program comes directly from the nursing department/Allied Health office in the mail. I got accepted last year with a January start date. I remember getting my acceptance really late...I think it was the last week of July or first week of August. Good luck to you!!

Hey JenApos, how has the nursing program been going for you? Well I hope. How many times did you apply to the program before you got in? Since this was my first time applying, I'm not really expecting to get in this round. Still, I'm hoping to get my letter in July and not August just so I can know. Here's hoping!

Hey everyone! I applied, like you all, in May. I've been anxiously waiting and checking the mail everyday! I'm from Tracy, CA and I'm actually a student at Chico State studying Health Education but looking to move home and get into MJC's nursing program. I'm 21 years old and applied to Butte's nursing program, in which I did not get into. I'm hopeful for Modesto's because I know several girls that went through and loved it. One got in on her first try, one waited around 2-3 years, and one got in on her second or third try.

I really hope we find out before August! That's such a late notice if we don't... I'm not expecting to get in on my first try, but it is the luck of the draw! Good luck everyone!

Kawaiinomiko-I applied to 6 different schools throughout the bay area and central valley. I got into Modesto and none of the others. It was my first time applying. I feel so lucky because I know many fellow students who applied multiple times.

I actually had to leave the middle of the first semester because my daughter was ill and going through a bunch of medical tests. The school allowed me to do a one time postponement and I will starting back as a first semester student in August.

The program is great and the teachers are very helpful and aporachable. I like nursing school much better than my prereqs; however, it is very intense!! The hardest part is the deadlines and feeling like there's not enough time to get everything accomplished. Sooo much reading! But it is a great program and the technology there is amazing!!

roneep-i too live in the Tracy area (Mountain House). There are a few people, myself included, that got in on their first try. It's possible!!

Good luck to you both!!! :)

Thanks for the info ronneep and JenApos, it's great to know that people some do get in on their first try. I guess you never know! Applying two to three times isn't too bad, either. I would just get really down if it took four to five times to get in because I'd be afraid of forgetting everything from my prereqs. It's also nice to know the program is more likable than the prereqs, they burned me out!

That's encouraging knowing there are people that get in on their first try! I hope I get lucky! I feel the same way about the pre requisites! I really hope to get in on my first try! This has been my dream job since high school! Although, if I don't get in, I'm able to finish my bachelors at Chico State. Nursing comes first for me; I've been waiting so long and I can't deny any opportunity in order to finish my bachelors. Just to clarify; this application period, we find out admission for fall AND spring, correct? And when I talked to the dean of nursing, she said they're going to a point system in 2014... Did anyone hear that too?

Yes, I believe they will be selecting students for both fall and spring. I haven't heard about them changing to the point system, but I wouldn't be surprised. They had a completely different system when my husband applied six years ago and they tend to switch things up every few years. Does this mean they would then completely eliminate the Chancellor's Model? I wish there was someone we could talk to in the nursing department, but they're pretty busy right now. =) I'm curious how many people applied this time and around, and how many of those applications were complete.

Yeah, I believe with the other colleges I've looked into that are point systems, they don't have a chancellors model. It's just about the max amount of points you can get with your grades, volunteer hours, ethnicity, experience ect. I wish there was someone too! I don't understand why this is taking SO long! There must be a lot of applicants... But I really need to know soon because I need to notify my landlord whether I'm moving back to Chico for school by August 1st! Does anyone have ANY idea about when we will be finding out? I keep checking the website and it hasn't changed!

When I turned in my application, they said their goal is to have everything mailed out by the end of July but it may spill into August. They mail everything out on the same day, acceptance and rejection, so everyone gets notified roughly at the same time. It looks like it will probably be another three to four weeks before the letters get sent out, but maybe you could go talk to someone in the nursing office in person and tell them your situation if it gets too close to August? It wouldn't hurt to try.

Hi everyone, I also applied in May for the first time for the Columbia satellite group. I emailed back and forth with one of the administrative assistants for allied health before the May deadline, and she did mention that they would be switching from the chancellors model. I think they have to process every single application before making selections and mailing notices, which is a lot of paperwork. They probably let people know if their applications are incomplete and what to do to complete them. It seems to change from year to year whether it's late July or very early August, but ronneep - I'd guess you would have a much better chance of talking to your landlord and seeing if you can work something out with him/her than talking to people in the allied health office. I don't think there's much they can do to speed up the process for an individual (they likely have a lot of other people in similar situations.) Maybe they notify by email as well, or maybe as soon as they say on the website that notifications have been sent you can call and check your status so you don't have to wait on the postal service. Good luck with your housing situation, hopefully your landlord wouldn't mind letting you have a week extension on giving notice.

Waiting to hear back is really hard, that's for sure!

Hi girls! I too am applying for the MJC nursing program. I have to get in this time! I have been applying for 8 semesters now. I'm hoping they'll get our letters (or packets if we're lucky) mailed out by this Friday.
