  1. That's great you decided to start this semester! I'm going to the doctors today to get my physical and titers done. One step closer! I'm a dork...I'm at work using their laminator to laminate my abbreviation card notes....haha....thats how exicted I am. When classes get started there will be no time for laminating...just reading and studying...or so I hear.
  2. Hi... I was just wondering if anyone on here got excepted into the MJC nursing program for the SPring 2013 semester. I am preparing to get my health clearance done, and am studying for the abbreviation quizes in the meantime. What are you doing to prepare? Have you ordered uniforms and textbooks yet?
  3. Roneep - your BS could help you get a nursing job after you finish the program... could you double up on classes this fall and graduate early..i took 27 units once, so that I could graduate at the same time as my friends. If MJC lets you defer one semester then I say absolutely yes finish it because once your done with the nursing classes, it will be hard to go back! Or so I have heard. Here might be another option enter nursing school this Spring and take courses at CSU Stanislaus and finish up there...or even try summer classes. There is no greater feeling than to walk down that aisle and recieve your diploma! Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll be fine.:) Kawaii I finished the test with like 15 minutes to spare. If you a certain amount of time to do each section. So lets say your finished with your science early and want to go back and check your math, it will not let you go back. I ended up not getting a study guide...I'm a procrastinator and knew that if I went shopping to find a guide I would waste one day of studying. I studied the glossary in my anatomy & physiology book, as well as searched online anything related to teas science. I feel my two days of studying the science greatly helped me! It took me about three hours to finish the whole test...and time flew by!!! Time yourself well during the math if it takes you longer than 4 minutes on anyone problem...then I say just choose the one that looks the best and move on. There were some math problems I knew I could figure out, but didn't have the time....so I just guestimated!
  4. Yeah I passed my Teas! I didn't sleep a wink last night I was so anxious. There was only 29 people there testing...no need to get there early like I thought. I met a couple other people there who had also been on the waitlist for five years! Glad I wasn't the only one, I was beginning to worry! The proctor said that of the people who are in the program for fall fail their Teas test, then they cannot start in the Fall. What pressure!
  5. The TEAS test at MJC is completely free, it's funded by a grant. I took the teas online also at Sac State last year...and another time at MJC in 2008...I passed both times. But one version is too old and the other was for a different school. Anyways I also feel that the science portion is the most difficult. Math and English portions are pretty basic...no need to really study. The math and English portions I used up all my time...no calculator, but they do give you scratch paper so bring a pencil. I take mine tomorrow morning...scores are instant in the computer version, which is the one they do at MJC...just show up earlier than the given time because there will be a line of people.
  6. Roneep, kawaii...maybe we will all get in together in the Spring! Roneep...your profile picture looks familiar...do you go to Seacliff beach this summer?
  7. I called the office this morning and they said it looks very promising that I will get in this Spring too!!!:yelclap: I am sooo happy! They want me to come and take my TEAS test this THursday. I'm nervous, I haven't studied for it. Does anyone know where to buy a study guide?
  8. Whoops...just reread Baxter's comment...her sister was called in off the waitlist...was a few years ago...I thought it was this week.
  9. Good research Kawaii!! I wish that was true, but I think they already picked the spots for fall and spring. Sometimes people get accepted into multiple schools and they resign their spot, or sometimes they quit during the first few weeks because it is too hard. I would love to get in, but would feel slightly cheated if they called me in the second or third week after classses started. Or maybe those that quit or flunk out of first semester...we will get their spot for the spring semester? I don't know. We should definetly call and clarify it this week though. Baxter on her said her friend got called in already off of the waitlist...hmm...now I will be glued to my phone hoping they call me.
  10. Thanks you for the links kawaiinomiko. I wish I could apply to those programs, but I have a hold on my record at the university for dropping out of my masters of ed classes.
  11. I didn't get in! However my letter says I did get into the top 60 on the waitlist. I wonder if the waitlist selection is a lottery drawing too? Or maybe we have specific numbers on the waitlist?
  12. Kawaiinomiko - During the previous years, apps have been mailed out the first week or two in August. I'm not sure about the point system though because I've been trying at Delta CC also, and they have a point system. I got a C in English and that really drives my overall score down, but I get an extra half point for having a Bachelor's:) I'm so excited to be a nurse already though! Have you been studying you been studying your abbreviations and suffixes quizes...they're posted on the website.
  13. Hi girls! I too am applying for the MJC nursing program. I have to get in this time! I have been applying for 8 semesters now. I'm hoping they'll get our letters (or packets if we're lucky) mailed out by this Friday.
  14. Enferma408 - Thats great you got in at Delta! My friend just graduated them this SPring and got a job a month later. She loved it there!! There are quite a few big hospitals there to do your preceptorship in.
  15. I've tried MJC and Delta, came close to getting in at Delta twice. Since my kiddos are so young Kinder and 2nd grade, I don't want to have to move them around. Communting would mean longer daycare hours, which are super expensive. Well, at least I get to volunteer in my son's Kinder class. I think the lottery system should get the boot. There has to be a better way.
