Anyone had to fill out Nursing CAS when doing Apps?

I'm currently working on applying to nursing MSN programs. One of the schools I am applying to is utilizing the on-ling service "Nursing CAS" for applications. Has anyone ever used this application server before? I have never used them before and find some of their self proclaimed "requirements" to be excessive. For example they want you to submit transcripts as well as type out every single course you ever took, along with course number, and grade. I am quite honestly not sure I even have transcripts from all my programs sitting around. Gah.

Yeah, the Nursing CAS is a PITA. When are your apps due? I have had issues with the CAS actually sending my reference letters out to people and with receiving my transcripts. I hope you have plenty of time to get all the BS done - I agree the transcripts and then typing every single course detail in is completely excessive, but what can you do? Good luck with it all.

Yes, Nursing CAS is a pain in the a$$!! Make sure you send in everything way before your schools deadline. I had to send my transcripts three times! And they take forever to post your updated status on their website. Definitely not worth the 60 bucks you have to pay to use the damn thing. Good luck with everything though! :D

I hate NursingCAS sOo much! I sent in my transcripts back in August and they just verified them and did my GPA calculation yesterday. Oh, and I've had the good fortune to speak to them twice over the phone. They're even more annoying over the phone then the part where you need to put in all your grades.... 0.o

I applied to GWU using Nursing CAS and thought it was a waste of time to enter all of my classes along with having official transcripts sent!..Thankfully, I was able to get it all in before the due date. I actually just received my acceptance letter to GWU, so I guess it was worth it! Good luck!

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in hating Nursing CAS... I retook a bunch of classes after failing about seven years ago (all with A's now). My college EXEMPTED the prior classes and zeroed them out but does NCAS take that into account where the college will?? NOOOOO!!! It bumped my now 3.85 GPA down to a 2.9. And the best part? I can't ever get ahold of anyone on their customer service line, seriously. I waited on hold for 45 minutes to no avail. And I spent an extra $60 for this application why?

I would of course check with the school you're applying to, but I know with the program I'm interested in, they do their own GPA calculations and don't really go off of the NursingCAS GPA. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to get a hold of people at NursingCAS, but rather just talk with the admissions reps at your school. I'm sure I'll have a similar problem once they calculate my GPA because I have a bunch of "W" courses that my school doesn't calculate in GPA but NursingCAS does.

Congrats on turning those grades around! What a great success for you!!!

I also filled out the NursingCAS. It took forever to fill in all the courses for me! Total waste of time. I took a few classes over during the course of my college career, achieving A's in the once C courses. Ugh, but alas, they still count the C's in the GPA total. Oh well. Which school(s) did you apply to through Nursing CAS?

I'm in the process of completing my application and I just want to double check that I'm filling out the "coursework" section correctly. I only attended one college where I received my BS degree. So when I fill out the "coursework" section I will start a session for Fall of 2003 (lower division) and add the courses I took during that semester. Then add another session for J-term 2004 (short winter semester) and add the courses I took. Then add another session for Spring 2004 and add the courses I took. And so on..When I'm done I should have multiple sessions under that college? Please let me know if I'm filling it correctly. Thanks.

Pilotman - That sound correct.

I discovered a program that I was extremely interested in about a week before the application was due. Of course, NursingCAS states in there instructions it takes ~5 weeks to process your application. Fortunately, the school I applied to actually allowed extra time for NursingCAS processing and my application was processed just in time. It's very tedious, but it seems that grad school for nursing is one big hazing regardless. I didn't have any problem getting them on the phone, but for critical information I found contacting the school directly provided more detailed information.

NursingCAS has my blood boiling today. The more I speak with them the more I think they are fraudulently advertising schools that DO NOT use them. Once your card is charged they claim "no refunds." I wouldn't have a problem so much with my loss BUT the school that they said participated has YET to be removed from the list. So how many people THINK they are applying to schools and are not. It is false advertisement that leads to a purchase of a product that does not exist and it is illegal. I'm pretty sure they need to be investigated further! Not to mention I've sent 4 transcripts for one school and they claim they never received them... Really? I went to the school today and got a printout of the dates they sent the transcript direct. They are a shady business and a nightmare to deal with and any nursing school should not be associated with them.
