Anyone ever worked in Huntington Beach, CA?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi, I am an oncology nurse from Canada and thinking about doing a travel assignment in Huntington Beach, california? Has anyone ever worked there before, and if so, what is it like? What is a good hospital out there to work at? I have never been to california, so all information would really help me out a lot!! Thanks!

Which hospital?

I'm no help at all except I lived there when I was a kid and then again when I was in college. I loved being by the ocean.

My 21 year old son was there yesterday swimming with friends from college.

Small world.

which is about 15 mins away....but i'm drawing a blank on any hospitals in hb... i think there's a hoag hospital there - but hoag's main campus is down the ways a bit further in newport beach....

just know that huntington beach is aka surf city. it's beautiful, beautiful, beautiful - you may not ever want to go back to canada! you'll have gorgeously sunny days after the morning fog burns off and equally impressive sunsets. huntington beach will be a nice place to stay, not too expensive (unless you're real close to the beach) but not too cheap. no bad neighborhoods i can think of....i'd say a 1 & 1 would range from $800 to $1200 depending on area and amenities.

fountain valley is a nice neighboring city. seal beach is nice as well. garden grove and westminster - ehhhhh, some nice areas - some not so nice areas. locals tend to call garden grove "garbage grove". the further south you go (irvine, costa mesa, newport beach, etc.) the more expensive it gets.

oh and you're about 50 miles south of los angeles, 20 mins east of disneyland, 1 1/2 hours north of san diego and about an hour from the mountains. there is traffic like you've never seen. but being in hb, you shouldn't have too many smog problems.

can you tell i love living here? :D

Which hospital?

Hi Gomer, Not sure what you meant by which hospital? Are you asking which hospital I work at now in Canada? or if you are asking me about which hospital in CA, then I have no idea, because I haven't been there yet.

Which hospital in Calif...as I don't think HB has a hospital.

HB's hospital is Huntington Beach Hospital. I'm also thinking of working there once I graduate. It's such a beautiful place. If you decide to go, you won't regret it!

Hi

Did you decide on a travel assignment? I am Canadian too and am researching travel in California, Let me know if you have any insight.

:p I use to work at Newport Bay Hospital in Newport Beach in 1994. It was a geriatric/psychiatric hospital. It was a nice place to work at that time. They did have problems with low census so I don't know if they are still alive and well at this time. Good luck

HI, sorry it took so long to reply, but I haven't checked this site in a while. I haven't chosen an assignment yet, but I know that I would like to work in Huntington Beach if possible. I hear there is a hosp there, so I'm just in the works of applying for my license and studying for the N-CLEX. How are you doing in the whole process? Have you found anything yet? I'm presently working in Alberta, which province are you in? Let me know how things are going for you! Thanks for the Email!! :)
