It's evidently too hard for others to help out.
I think most of us have been through what you are talking about. The ones that don't know what we are talking about might well be the seat warmers we refer to. I am a traveller now, but when I was working at a hospital, we had a nurse who would sit and read and ignore the monitor and her pts. We actually put her name on the chair she would sit in all the time. She finally did get fired for -- get this-- falling asleep in a pts room while the pt was having a prolonged decel, with family in the room! She was still asleep while we ran in there as did the physicians. Very Very scary. And totally frustrating when you have people that do not preform with the team. We all need to be there for each other it is the only way to survive.

Have anyone else heard of "basic care NURSES"?
Hmmm that sounds suspicious to me -- Maybe the nurses should start teaching classes on Basic physician training and let the grads call themselves Doctor!! Would that not cause a problem or what??!! :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire How irritating. We work hard for our title and our Licence and for people to call themselves nurses grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It is bad enough that pts don't know who is the nurse and who is the houskeeper let alone if they are dealing with a real nurse or a basic non nurse.

24 weeks pregnant with rib pain
Those are all very good things then. I would consult your physician and see if she/he has any suggestions. For now you could try a warm compress and tylenol (as long as you are not allergic to Tylenol) to relieve some of the pain. I hope the pain goes away soon. 'sorry I was not of more help.

24 weeks pregnant with rib pain
Congrats! Well I don't know what to tell you. Is there anything that makes it better or worse? Is the baby moving? Any HX of gallbladder? If it is really bothersome I would consult your doctor, like a phone diagnosis it is pretty hard to tell what it could be over the internet. Other things though. Any swelling? Any nausea? Headache, visual disturbances, Increased BP? Vomiting? I had what sounds like the same pain under my right rib almost my entire pregnancy -- the docs could find nothing, but counter pressure on the area helped somewhat, of course I pts thought it was kinda funny the way I walked around putting counter pressure on my ribs all the time )

Anyone using Nitronox in OB?
Never heard of this either, but I am not sure I like the sound of it. Who wants a mom knocked out? That does not sound like a great experience to me. Patient controlled epidural is the best thing I have used.

Hi I would recommend A&A nursing. They are local to California and are really personable and reliable to work for. I only work for them in California:)

Cudos to A&A Nursing
I just had to write and thank A&A nursing for all their care and concern for my family and myself. I am new to travel and A&A has been there every step of the way. They picked me up from the airport, had a welcome to California BBQ for me, took me to my housing, then picked me up the next day and took me to get my car and cell phone. They have been so supportive, even calling me on the floor during my shift to see how the night was going and delivery coffee and treats when we were having a rough night on the floor. When I had to leave my assignment to come home to deal with a legal matter they were again there driving my family to airport since my flight was at a different time, and have been checking on how things are going every few days. When I was sick in California Autumn brought me crackers gator aid, soup and flowers. I just cannot say enough good things about this company. They support their nurses and are just great people in general, and they have worked in the trenchs with us so they know what we deal with on a daily basis. So I just want to say Thank you A&A:hatparty: :hatparty: :hatparty:

Just got canned!!!
You did the right thing! I am sure they are going to be sorry to have lost a dedicated and knowledgeable RN who knew the ropes in their facility. I just do not understand the concept of bottom line as compared to pt safety, it blows my mind. Good luck with the new registry work -- I know of an awesome registry to work for in California, great pay, great support, I work for them when I am in California. Good luck

Night nurses: Do you have a sign?
Wow I am quite shocked that I never gave it that much tought. I always had a sign on the door Shift Worker Please !!!! Don't even think about it with a very cranky looking disheveled RN for a pic. I guess because I live in an area where people still will leave their doors unlocked I never thought of the danger of the sign. The only time that I did not have the sign on the door was when I was selling my house. Unfortunately there was a lock box and even though the listing clearly stated that agents MUST have my permission to show the property and that I was a shift worker, one agent thought he should show it without calling. Well I happen to sleep ummmm well naked, and it being summer I was not totally covered up when my bedroom door flew open and the light was turned on. Needless to say the couple and the agent made a quick exit and I did not recieve an offer on my house that day. Guess they did not like what they saw heheheheh :rotfl:

You know you're canadian when...
Oh absolutely!!! My brother and his now wife got me hooked way way way back. Saw them last summer when they played bayfest in Sarnia Ontario Canada It was awesome!

Why agency pay more?
Which Agency are you with? I am just looking into to travel and I am trying to compare agencies. I am not really finding much information in the way of the good the bad and the ugly.
-
Why agency pay more?
You raise some very interesting issues? I am currently searching for a travel job and all the agencies seem to be promising the moon. How did you go about becoming and independent? How are you covered in regards to liability? Any input would be appreciated.
