Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

to all those who used pass ccrn, what was your average on the cd test before you took the actual ccrn test and passed?
i merged your single post to this thread in the ccu forum for a better response. much discussion here about the ccrn.
good to have you with us. we hope you enjoy the site.
To all those who used Pass CCRN, what was your average on the cd test before you took the actual ccrn test and passed?
Hi Stillwater!! I got almost the identical scores on the Pass CCRN CD that I got on the exam, it seems that it has been a consensus on this site as well, that it correlates very well to the actual exam. For me it was about 85%.
Are you planning on taking the exam??
Hi everyone, I'm back on board here. I had my evaluation yesterday and was told that it is slated in the budget for 2 nurses to pursue the CCRN this year, and I'm one of them. I haven't been following the thread. Any good study books out there?
Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! jlsRN???!!!! YYYaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!!

Personally, I would highly recommend the DVD course by Dr Laura Gasparis VonFrolio, check it out on greatnurses.com. She also has a review book of questions and answers with rationales (get it on Amazon.com, it is cheaper than on her own website) and get the 3rd edition of Dennison's Pass CCRN (also available on Amazon.com). The Dennison book has way too much information for the exam, but what is invaluable, is the CD of questions (over 1000) which are set-up exactly like the real exam (amt of questions and divided correctly by system, etc). What we have found is using that CD is a great way of not only reviewing, but also the scores people were receiving correlated almost exactly to the actual scores on the exam!! So, you will know when you are ready, because if you can get over 70% on Dennison, you will on the CCRN. Believe it or not, some of the questions were exactly the same on Dennison and CCRN.
Also, be sure you join the AACN, because they have a great, free, online library of CE's that you can read and test and get credit for and keep a record of right on their site. It is the BEST deal out there for nursing CE's.
I'm so proud of you for being only one of two to be encouraged to take the exam! That says a ton of how you are thought of where you work. Hey, keep posting, let us know how it is going. There are many nurses in the process right now of CCRN and this is a great place to check-in, share patients and knowledge etc.

Hi and thanks SIRI and deeDawntee!
Yes im planning to take the ccrn and my exam is fast approaching.. it is actually next week, on friday.. what concerns me is that im just getting around 65% on the pass ccrn cd test right now, although i admit that im not really studying as much as i did on my nclex.. and im planning to cram this week.. and if by tuesday, im still getting the same result, i might go to plan b, which is to move the exam date..
whats the passing percentage for ccrn? and what do you guys think (based from experience) is a safe percentage on the pass ccrn cd test that will tell you that you're ready?

Hey, you are very close! Passing for the CCRN exam is 70%. I would say you would want to be scoring 75-80% to have a little comfort zone, before you take the test. I think you can do it. Do you have time to do lots of practice questions?
Hi deeDawntee! yeah i saw your earlier post about the 70% although i wasnt able to edit my post coz my internet was acting up earlier..
ANyways, I'm off the whole weekend.. and im planning to do at least one 150 item practice test everyday until thursday.. maybe i coud get my result up to 70-75% by wednesday and decide to take it.. hey gota study now, i might actually go for it..thanks a lot!

You can do it Stillwater...no doubt about it!!! Hey, check in and let us know how it is going this week!!
You can do it!!! :yeah:
:yeah: Yaaaaaayyyy!!!!
Just read all 47 pages! wow! lot's of info there. Taking the exam on Monday!!! I feel pretty confident about the "pearls" just need to polish up and watch Laura's videos one or two more times and do as many Dennison q's as possible. To those of you that have Laura's green review book, was it a little bit of overkill? It seems that she goes into too much detail on everything but pulm, neuro and cardio.

Hey Burnt2 YOU ROCK!! I think it is very cool that you are leaning towards CRNA, but to be honest I was looking forward to the difference that you would make in the Physician world with one foot in nursing! But, that being said, I know you will be successful at whatever path you choose.
Hey ElizabethJ! I met somebody who works with you and he said that you are an awesome coworker! It was really fun to meet someone who knows you in person.
Hey New2 and MICU, great to see you!!
And CardiacRN2006 the steadfast!! How is it going for you??
You all made my day!! A check-in from the gang!! (hey, wish me luck, I have an interview for a second position at a Trauma1 ER today) Yowza, am I nuts???!!!
