Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

Hi deeDawntee! yeah i saw your earlier post about the 70% although i wasnt able to edit my post coz my internet was acting up earlier..ANyways, I'm off the whole weekend.. and im planning to do at least one 150 item practice test everyday until thursday.. maybe i coud get my result up to 70-75% by wednesday and decide to take it.. hey gota study now, i might actually go for it..thanks a lot!
Don't sweat it; you'll do fine
I scored much lower on the Dennison test than I did on the actual CCRN
All those angry thoughts, salty snacks, and red shirts helped out :trout:
Just read all 47 pages! wow! lot's of info there. Taking the exam on Monday!!! I feel pretty confident about the "pearls" just need to polish up and watch Laura's videos one or two more times and do as many Dennison q's as possible. To those of you that have Laura's green review book, was it a little bit of overkill? It seems that she goes into too much detail on everything but pulm, neuro and cardio.
Hey Great Wepeel!!! That is very cool!
And I agree on the green book, I didn't spend much time on it at all.
Keep us updated how it is going!! And good luck on Monday!!
... but does it really count if 5-10% were questions I had already seen on the first test?
yes, because you know the rationals to those questions, and there is a good chance that a question like it will be on the test (or maybe even the same question)
You're ready
edit: spend time doing the quizzes...focus on cardio and pulm - the others are second tier; if you do well in those two it will carry over into the other systems
Test 2 124/150 82.6%cardio 32/47
pulm 23/26
GI 5/6
neuro 4/5
renal 8/8
endo 9/9
hem/immun 8/8
multi 10/12
prof caring 25/29
Better... but does it really count if 5-10% were questions I had already seen on the first test?
Great Job!!! You are ready!!! I know you may not believe it, but you will do fine!! Remember to not let those non-graded questions rattle you...they are killers and stupid...I think they are designed to see if you can handle the pressure, and, of course, you certainly can!!!
Spend the weekend doing fun reviewing, solidifying your knowledge, and go in confident, because you already ARE a CCRN certified nurse!!!
GOOD LUCK!!! HAVE FUN!!! Be ready to celebrate and figure out what you want to do to reward yourself!! You deserve a nice dinner out or something you really enjoy.....
We are here for you if you have more questions...and yes there are a few errors on Dennison, but see how smart you are??? You caught them!!!
:lol2:
Just curious, how much do you need to know the medication... is it as much as on the study CD?
It is similar. But I wouldn't stress out about it, I remember one obscure Respiratory med, but nothing else that was out of the ordinary.
How is it going?? Are you feeling pretty good about it??
Stay relaxed....it is the best way to go!!! :lol2:
Well, I just listed this as a goal on my eval, so now I really have to get it done!(If I want a raise next year....)I have a few months to go, so I will try to fight for the sickest patients from here on out....
All right CardiacRN2006!! You are going to rock that exam, you have been such a steady, reliable part of this thread and I have seen a lot of brilliant answers you have given on other threads, I am sure you could take the exam tomorrow and pass it....IMHO!!!
Cardiovascular 75%
Pulmonary 81%
Endocrine 80%
Hematology/Immunology 100%
Neurology 100%
Gastrointestinal 86%
Renal 83%
Multisystem 80%
Synergy 80%
101/125 81% Total (Was getting 82% on Dennison CD)
I PASSED!! Even got a question on homonymous hemianopia! Didn't see any exact Dennison questions however.
Thanks for all the encouragement!!! Good luck to everyone else. Laura and Dennison is the way to go!!

Thats the best plan; the last few days leading up to the test I did the Dennison questions ad nauseum till i knew the rationals inside/out
the last day I just relaxed (at dawntee's recommendation - she's much smarter than me).
I was surprised to find questions on the actual exam that were verbatim from the Dennison practice tests.
