Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

Do you guys realize not one of us have flunked! I think we may be on to something here with our Dr. Laura/Dennison method;)

Burnt, let us know what they say at work by your awesome success! They had a little party for me at work and congratulations were written to me on our unit's huge breakroom whiteboard.

CONGRATS burnt!!! although, I knew you would pass so I'm not all that surprised ;) :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

And yes, I am next and awfully nervous!!!! I didn't get the Dr. Laura CD's like everyone else, but I have been studying with her book and the Dennison CD.

Dawn, yes the house has kept me VERY busy, which is making me even more nervous because I have spent some time on the house when I could have been studying. I have spent more time in Menards than I ever cared to!! (don't know if you guys have Menards in your neck of the woods, but it's just a home improvement store like Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.)

Back to studying!!!!!!!

Seriously spend as much time as possible on the Dennison questions - like dawn said before, there are a few questions that are taken verbatim from the CCRN exam

We have a mennards somewhere close to here (I live in ohio)

Dawn---you lived in cinci? lol, how many guns and cans of mace did you keep on you?

in college i was in a homeless ministry group and we'd go to the square in downtown cinci every friday night - one time we saw someone shoot someone, another time someone stabbed someone, and another time a couple of guys stepped out of an alley way and threatened to rape 2 girls in our group, but they ran

ELizabethJ you are going to be fine with the CCRN. But seriously you are missing an experience that no nurse should miss. Dr Laura is a character to behold!! I have loaned my DVD course to a nurse who is taking the exam 10/6, so I can't help you out before your exam. Hey, ask around at work, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody has it and would loan it to you. Menard's huh? I've been to one myself a lot lately. I've had a handyman come in and do my plumbing and elecctrical! I really lucked out. A very good guy. When do you take the exam?

Oh man, Burnt, when I was in Cinci the crime wasn't that bad. That was a long time ago. That is sooo cool that you were in a ministry group to he homeless!! I loved that area in downtown Cinci where the square is. Hey, Rainman was just on the other night and I watched the part where Raymond was going over that bridge over the Ohio River and humming!! Such a beautiful downtown.

What is next for you? MCATs? Want to do the CNRN?? (neuro cert) How about the rest of you guys? CNRN??

WOW - not been on the board for a while but have been studying hard. CONGRATS to the folks who've passed - you're awesome!

Anyone using the Core Review for High Acuity and Critical Care (from AACN) book? It has 3 practice tests and the questions are beyond hard. If the test is like this, I'd better hang it up now!

OK so I'm stressing - I admit it - but my test date is in a couple weeks and I still feel SO unready.

You awesome people who passed - any advice?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I bought Dr. Laura's DVDs. I can't wait to get them. I'm hoping that they will jump start my motivation to study. The PASS CCRN book is way too overwhelming for me. I'm mostly just practicing the questions to see what I need to study first.

Dump the AACN crap and go for Dr Laura's DVD course, she will keep you motivated and proud to be a nurse.

I can't wait until you go through your first DVD and report back to us. Of course, I do realize that you have a wedding and a honeymoon to attend to first!! hehe

I promise you will not regret getting it!

Absolutely, DO NOT study from the Pass CCRN book, but that CD of questions is as invaluable as Dr Laura's course and believe it or not, that is all you will need.

LOL I've been a Laura devotee' for many years so of course I have her review course. I saw here at an Acute Skills seminar a few weeks ago - she really is as good as we all seem to think she is! What a blast. Didn't know she was only 4'11", though - I can just picture her now - no wonder she tells idiot docs to "sit down!" before reaming them out LOL.

Seriously, I've all but got her stuff memorized after all this time, and I'm using other resources as well, but I just feel SO unready. Have to get out of this "what if I fail?" mindset. ARGH.:uhoh3:

Dennison CD + Gasparis vids = all you need

Although...I used her Critical care book too

pacep.org really helped out on the hemodynamic stuff
