It has been years since I was in high school. I have taken some basic voccational classes. However, the math seemed easier back in those days. lol. I have taken Algebra twice, and now only have one more time to take it. I am grasping it. However, in California (not sure if its the same in all states) We only have 3 tries to pass a class. I used to love math in high school. Not sure what happened from then till now. I have this math class, intermediate Algebra & statistics to take if I want BSN. Only need intermediate Algebra if I want ADN. Just curious if anyone else has struggled with math. As it is essential for acheiving our goals. Thanks in advance!

Good day, 30pls_rn_in_trng:
Khanacademy.org can be very helpful. If your local library sponsors universalclass.com that might be an option as well in terms of free classes that can bring you up to speed.
Thank you.
Thank you. Yes Khan Academy has helped a great deal. I will look into anything else that may be free, and won't count as a college class.

Did you take the placement test? Usually they'll place you in the proper math to set you up for success.

Yes I struggled with algebra...ended up with a C.....not my finest but oh well...it is what it is...math is for sure my weakest area. I am taking statistics this summer.....hopefully it goes better for me...I need a B in it to get the points for my nursing application.

I feel your pain! I failed algebra the first time, took it again and got a C+. Does your school offer tutoring? If so I highly suggest u take advantage of it. Believe me, u are not the only one who struggles in math. But yes, u need to pass to go on to Chemistry. Stay strong and good luck!

Tutoring saved me as I struggle too. Plus tons of practice...do all your homework and study everyday at least a little bit. My school also had self paced math courses that allowed you to complete intermediate algebra over 2 semesters. I ended up with a B+! Also took stats online over 6 months through UC Berkeley Extension. Ended up with a B+ was a lot of work but the extra time helped...

I struggled with math as well. Ended up with a C in College Algebra, but I was still able to get into a competitive BSN program the first time around.
If you can go to tutoring, I would suggest it.

You are not alone. I am terrible math. Always have been my whole life. My strong point is English. I am good at spelling words and memorizing them and their definitions. But math to me is another language. I actually had an IEP in high school because I was so bad at it. But yet I'm good at everything else. All I can say is, study hard and ask questions to your professor on a certain equation or formula. Get a math tutor if you can and practice daily. Good luck!
