Anyone else a planner nerd?

Published

Finding motivation in the most appropriate of places today with my Happy Planner. I'm starting an ADN program this spring and I'm anticipating it to be rough. I wanted to share this bc I think this quote is powerful.

Wow, thanks so much for showing the Evernote lists.... great examples of what it can do!!

I am a planner nerd, too, except mine is just of the $12 variety. Couldn't live without it. I use different colored highlighters to color code everything written in it--my kids' schedule, my schedule, my school breaks, their school breaks (the breaks of course don't coincide), etc., etc.

I debated between Erin condren and lilly Pulitzer. I ended up getting a lilly planner and bought stickers and washi tape. I love decorating it. It was about half the cost of the EC

Here are some examples of planning in Evernote:

Evernote ties nicely into the free Sunrise planner. Plus if you like to automate https://ifttt.com/ has free recipes that will automate Evernote (for example pulling in emails, calendar items, pinterest images, etc).

This is interesting! Thanks for the tip!!!

Can you update with how you like your passion planner? I looked at that last year!

So - I gave the PassionPlanner a fair try - and then asked for a refund. I am grateful that they even offer refund as an option. First of all, I purchased the smaller size planner, because this is the size I always buy. It fits in my purse, or is easy to carry to meetings. The monthly calendar section isn't all that bad, but it is still a tad too small for my taste. The weekly/hourly calendar section is ENTIRELY too small for me. I would have had to purchase the full 8x11 version and that is just too large for me - not a size I am interested in.

So...thankfully, they will refund if you aren't satisfied with their calendar. I normally wouldn't care, but it cost me $30 = plus shipping. Plus I still have to purchase another planner.

I mentioned I tried Erin Condren two years back - I *wanted* to like it...but I just didn't - they ARE pretty - but it was heavy and a little bulky, and I just didn't use it like I normally use a calendar, I don't know why not. So the year after the EC planner, I bought the intheleafytreetop.com planner. So I decided I would just buy from there again because I really used it. Well - they are sold out of all their non-mormon planners! I am not mormon, so I just wanted to plain ol' jane one. Nope - sold out.

I went on a planner search. EVERY planner I liked was SOLD OUT.

Then I found Plum Paper Planners! WHAT? LOVE.

Not only are they so pretty - they are so customizable (is that a word?) which makes them completely functional.

I have 5 kids in school (K-freshmen), kids in sports and clubs, a husband in PhD school and me in school too - I need function!

I passed on the family planner - my planner from last year had separate spaces and I did utilize that feature, but I didn't want that feature this time. My schedule is more harried now, and I wanted something I could use as a time-flow sorta thing. I ordered their regular planner, with lined daily columns - but no times. I figure I can add in my own times, highlight, etc...and I imagine on some days I can write in notes about things I am doing and I wanted the flexibility of not having the 30 minute increments. Plus it starts at 7am, ends at 8pm, and our days are usually from 5am - 9 or 10 pm, and the 7a-8p made me feel limited (I know, weird, but still). So I got the lined, no hours.

I also added some notes to the back as well as "to-do" pages. You can add SO much (menu planning, cleaning lists, fitness tracking, bills, checklists, etc. Whatever you could need - they offer it.

You can order the planner to have up to 18 months (I ordered 14, which will take me through my kids entire 2016/17 school year, and then I'll order again). I seriously LOVE this planner!

Anyway, I told you I'd update, and I wanted to give the PassionPlanner a good try - but I just couldn't make it work. I was frustrated with how small I had to write, and felt like it was cramping my style. It isn't all that pretty inside, and it wasn't inspiring (like it is supposed to be). I didn't even WANT to look in it, or use it. LOVE the Plum Paper Planner!! Highly recommend.

I probably wouldn't have survived this long (in my 2nd semester) w/out a planner. I just buy the cheap Target/Walmart ones...but if I don't write every assignment and try to plan every day out, I get so lost. I had a chunk of time a few weeks ago where I passed a kidney stone and was super sick....didn't touch my planner for about 2 weeks and ended up missing two appointments, almost failed a med-surg test, and turned in the wrong paperwork on my clinical packet.

Glad I'm not the only one who survives off of a planner haha.

I'm a new planner convert, and I absolutely ADORE my StraightANursingStudent (Etsy) planner. It was only $10 for the file and then I just printed it on heavyweight paper (light almost cardstock) and put it in a 3 ring binder. I was going to print it online but just never got around to it. Definitely worth it, and it's cute, and has lots of nursing blurb info in it. Places for non school activities and list making.

Erin Condren super nerd! Mine has a photo collage on front and back and I have custom stickers that fit in the lines for exams and everything else.
