Anyone else going to the USAGPAN in 2011?

Hello all, I am new to this forum but find it to be quite useful so far. I have a question....I have just recently applied to the Army's CRNA program for the calss starting in 2011. I was accepted by the LTHET board but I have yet to hear from NEU yet. When do you generally hear from them on your acceptance? Also, is there anyone else out there that applied to the same class starting in 2011 at Ft. Sam?

I am accepted to USAGPAN for 2011 - civilian direct accession route (accepted at NEU) - I am a little nervous and appreciate all of the comments and advice you current/past students share.

Looking forward to hearing from some more 2011 people!

Congrats HippieChic, that's awesome! I've had my application in for a few months and believe I have to wait untill mid September to hear...seems like a lifetime away! Anyways, wanted to hear from other VA nurses who have applied for the 2011 program, any issues applying, thoughts/concerns....? Yeah for the VA program! I have applied to Northeastern and am waiting for my VA application to be completed to be sent in. I'm made lots of extra copies of my application just incase (I know how the VA works...) What VA are you at Holly?

Oh yes, I've heard extra copies of everything are key for success with the VA and NEU! I'm at the NF/SG VA in Gainesville, FL. Where are you? I know of one other RN applying from this hospital, what about yours? I think it's getting more and more competitive each year - the secret is out! What have you heard about USAGPAN transitioning to the Doctorate program? I heard from some people that it would be happening in 2011 and then also heard not until 2012.....

just an fyi,

remember to the check the military forum on the other nursing anesthesia website (google it), b/c they have alot of info on the USAGPAN program. Other VA peeps write on there too. One of the main contributers to the forum is an instructor at USAGPAN (he will be your pharmology teacher)

I am a VA employee and currently in the application process from the 2011 USAGPAN program. I was in contact with someone actually today and was informed that you can not even begin applying for NEU until March of 2010 for the 2011 program....you are military right? I wonder if it is different??

Hi, I hope by now you've gotten your acceptance email and letter! I am so glad that mine came but, I still have to apply to theh LTHET supplemental board in two weeks. Hope they pick me up too!! I was a late comer for the first board and had to take the GRE on one nights notice and then was so bleary eyed I exited the quant section with 18 questions to go. Yeah, I thought it was the practice section! OY, so I retook it asap and scored okay but, not in time for the first LTHET board. Hope we are both in!! Will post when I know. Jen/Gennaver

Good luck to you with the second board selection! I received the acceptance email from NEU which I guess is half the battle, but still waiting to hear from the VA panel which I'm hoping will be in the next few weeks! I feel like I applied a lifetime ago! Crossing my fingers for a little while longer....!

Hello Holly, I am guessing the VA panel is the same Board as for LTHET through the Army, (meets Sept 15th!) I've read that it is a quick board. Whereas the first board deadline was March they didnt' meet right away but, for this one they should. :)! Good luck! I am planning on taking a Graduate medical chemistry course to flex my mind and study habits, (at the recommendation of someone I trust very much!) I have the text but am waiting on word from this board before I pay for the 13 week course. Congratulations on NEU, I just sent in my letter of acceptance two days ago! :) Very glad. Jen/Gennaver

Holly, I was told by a person in charge at the VA, that the selection board meets near the end of September. Arrghh, the suspense is killing me.

I got my acceptance from NEU this week. Now I just have to be chosen by the VA panel to attend. I was told the board was meeting in late September. Arrgh, the anticipation is killing me. All I can do is hope for the best I guess.
