Anyone else dealing with unemployment $ (BLEEP!)?

I filled out all the unemployment stuff on time. Then they sent me a second form in the mail that I filled out and mailed back promptly...now I get this letter in the mail saying I have a telephone interview on the 13th...Its been OVER a month since I got laid off, why do I have to jump through all these hoops? I understand that there are a lot of people collecting unemployment right now...but its MY money! It came from MY paycheck! I feel like one of those people on one of the those settlement commercials "Its MY money and I want it NOW!!!"

I have never filed for unemployment before, is this all normal?? My dad is a seasonal worker, my mom said he has never had to go through this much!

it is precisely the fact that you have never filed for unemployment before that you are going through so much.

Once the phone interview is completed to validate the information they will pay you back to the mark set by your state's unemployment securities commission.

Your father, on the other hand, has it easy because he is seasonally employed. Certain employers and even individuals are flagged in the system based on past history. Sometimes the flags mean "DANGER! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!" and other times (like in your dad's case [and mine]) the employers are flagged as seasonal temporary layoffs so they are processed in an expedited fashion.

Don't sweat it. It doesn't mean you will be rejected.. just means you have to get into the system.

Never had it taken out of mine. Employers pay the UI premiums.

The DOL policies vary from state to state, and it will also depend if your a new filer or a continuing filer. It will also depend on the size of your local DOL. Each time I've been laid off, I've gone in with the paper work instead of sending it in - it starts the process sooner. Also, you will be required to take a one day seminar on "how to find a job"...LOL. ALL DOL's are overwhelmed right now with the high UI rates.

I hope you find a job soon, and don't be afraid to just go in and see what the deal is. Most times the people you talk with are helpful.

I jumped through hoops and was ultimately denied 8 weeks later. No pay. They said one of the reasons you can qualify for unemployment is if you move more than 50 miles from your job to follow a spouse's job or something like that. We moved 3 hrs away because my husband got a job. Then they denied me because I quit my job to move with my husband and they didn't think that was a good reason. Uh. Your letter says it's a valid reason! Then I found out that rule didn't become valid until a month after I filed so they denied it because I wasn't in the right time frame.

My husband is going through the same thing. He left his job because I took a job 250 miles away. Finding a job took longer than he thought. Six months later, the state decided he wasn't eligible after all, and they want the money back.

I'm just a student, but it looks from your post that you have 3 yrs experience... I think new grads are having the biggest problem, but I am sure the economy is affecting others.....

Keep in mind there are significant regional differences. I'm a new grad in the West, and less than 5% of my class has been able to get a job since graduating last semester.

It took me almost two months to get mine straight. As to the resignation stuff...my employer attempted to get me to sign a contract which indicated I was voluntarily resigning when they cut my job. I amended the paperwork to state my job was eliminated so my unemployment would not be affected.

There is a hospital in stockton, Dameron Hospital, that has the most wonderful nursing leadership team ever! I just love it hear, and feel like I have a family that cares about me. I wish everyone had such a great place to work.

What are the three most important things about setting up a business?

They also apply to job availability.

There is a nursing shortage nationwide, but it is not affecting the highly developed urban areas where most people live.

The majority of hospitals screaming for nurses are in small cities removed from metropolitan centers.

Good luck with those jobs!

LOL I'm in San Antonio. Not really rural.

Aside from that I would likely just move if the job I wanted out of school was available somewhere other than sa. Hope your luck changes.
