Anyone currently attending Monroe College?

U.S.A. New York

Hello Everyone!

I've just received my acceptance into Monroe College's Progressive Nursing Program for the Winter semester! So I just figured id make a thread for any other people who are currently attending or have recently gotten accepted into the program.

For those of your currently attending, how is it going so far?

Is there anything I should know before the semester starts?

Id love to hear how everyone is doing and possibly get to know my fellow nursing students!

Has anyone applied to the part time LPN-RN program?

I'll be happy to meet all of you, one of these days when classes are no longer virtual. I'm a 3yrs Monroe Nursing Student. I've worked full time night and a Per Diem job and I can tell you the program is def doable. Good Luck to all of you.

I am starting the accelerated nursing January 8th. Glad to meet someone who is already in the program. What advice will you give the new  student. For me, I want to still be able to work while going to school.

Has anyone applied to the evening/weekend nursing program at Monroe college?

One thing I would say is to make sure you keep tract of everything you do. There is a lot of changes currently going on right now and things me be a little chaotic. The work load can get very heavy with the extra added ATI Portion (pain in the ***), but try to form good study habits, try to review content before coming to class, don't be afraid to ask tons of questions or seek clarification, they professors are always willing to help and have an open door policy. If you have issues or feel strongly about anything follow the chain of command and speak up. When I started there were things that were happening that student complained about but never spoke up about ended up falling on my shoulder because nobody wanted to address it. President Jerome and Dr. Carty have an open door policy as well. They really try their best to prepare you for NCLEX they best they can you just have to do your part. To me the Program was not hard, communication may have been a little off but its doable. Wishing you the best of luck. If you need anything reach out.

Thanks! I still can not believe it. I have to do Microbiology, which I am thinking about doing with Straighterline. I am a transfer student and do not have any Pell grants, therefore I am trying to keep the cost low. Also I have not been assigned an advisor, I guess once I speak with Financial Aid. BTW, how did you get in touch with Financial Aid?

Have you tried signing up to Bronx Community College and doing a payment plan. I’m awaiting acceptance into the nursing progressive program myself for the  Spring (April) semester and I’m taking Microbiology at BCC next semester which starts Jan 29, 2021.  Good luck!

I'm in my last year and the program is def doable, I worked full time and attended classes, but of course, I completed every single prerequisite prior to entering the program which made it easier because I didn't have class 5x a week damn near all day.

Thanks, I guess I'm worried about the tuition.
