Anyone currently attending Monroe College?

Published

Hello Everyone!

I've just received my acceptance into Monroe College's Progressive Nursing Program for the Winter semester! So I just figured id make a thread for any other people who are currently attending or have recently gotten accepted into the program.

For those of your currently attending, how is it going so far?

Is there anything I should know before the semester starts?

Id love to hear how everyone is doing and possibly get to know my fellow nursing students!

I also bought some pens/ highlighters. I actually got into bullet journaling over the Summer which has served me well since I can just customize it however I like (I like to keep it simple)

And YES dry erase calendars are the best, I could never keep up with standard calendars anyways LOL

I would also like to try bullet journaling, I was looking at videos on it (looks very interesting). On another note I was expecting the anticipated end date to be a little sooner than what was posted on the schedule?

Yeah...that end date was a bit confusing? It seems odd that the lpn portion would finish that late (I'll just assume we have a similar end date, not sure if I should list it here) . I can't help but hope that is a anticipated date for the whole progressive program. The progressive track SHOULD take 3 years at most and we are transferring in a whole  bunch of credits which should help us finish sooner ...so it wouldn't make sense to finish the lpn portion that late.

I was planning on reaching out to someone on Monday about that, so hopefully I can get that addressed.

Also in regards to bullet journaling, I recommend looking at some minamalistic spreads on Youtube and pintrest to keep things simple. There are alot of diffrent spreads you can use to keep track of school related things as well, which I love. You could even try it out for the month of December to see if it's something you can benefit from ?

Once I got over the idea of being super fancy or making elaborate pages, it was really easy to stick with and I love using it to track everything :)

It's okay to post dates, they just don't like us posting names of school representatives on here.

The anticipated date on mine's 8/2022, I was assuming it would've been 1/22-2/22 (the latest). I planned to reach out on Monday as well. Like you stated we transferred in a ton of credits.

Thanks for the information/tips about the bullet Journaling?

At first it was zoom and it was moved to phone on an earlier time because I think the other one cancelled.

Oh! mine's was on zoom. it was a surprise, because I actually thought I missed the deadline and then one day I got the email for an interview at the very last minute.  I would reach out and ask more questions to get a better clarity of what is going on. Also, did you apply to other schools, or is interested in applying?

I applied to only 2 schools this and RCC, I called them last Wednesday already they said that they haven’t made a decision yet, At this point I don't wanna bug them but also I’m really super anxious and scared that its taking them this long.

So my Interview was on the 4th and its been 18 days since (11 days if you don’t count holidays and weekends) Should I be concerned?

So I applied to Hunter Business, Transitions Career Institute, Lincoln Tech in New Jersey, and Monroe. Lincoln Tech in New Jersey they accepted me already in a week of phone calls but I really really wish Monroe do the same because the distance from my place to New Jersey is not that great. So I am still waiting for Monroe.

The lady that you called she is super helpful, plus you can reach out to the admissions advisor too. Helene fuld school of nursing generic BSN program is open for Fall 21, You should call them. Even though I was accepted to Monroe and another school I still applied to H.F. as well. They accept the TEAS exam, but you have to take it with them.

Ah I see, I got the same date as you and I agree, we should definitely be finished by January/February 2022.

And no problem! I get a bit excited over it but honestly whatever works for you is what really matters ?

Oh man, I would be really nervous too ☹️

Hopefully you can get some sort of response soon. I understand you don't want to come across as a bother  but I would probably try calling them again. Afterall, it is your education and it's important to know where you stand.
