Hello Everyone!
I've just received my acceptance into Monroe College's Progressive Nursing Program for the Winter semester! So I just figured id make a thread for any other people who are currently attending or have recently gotten accepted into the program.
For those of your currently attending, how is it going so far?
Is there anything I should know before the semester starts?
Id love to hear how everyone is doing and possibly get to know my fellow nursing students!

Yes, I received it yesterday afternoon (I just have to do the drug screening tomorrow or Saturday). I am excited too ?
I am about to make a bullet journal, since I am a newbie I got carried away with the supplies?

yayy! I'm taking my BLS class on Sunday and I'm going to make an appointment with my physician on Mon/Tue for all the medical stuff.
I'm really happy to hear you took up bullet journaling too! not gonna lie I also got really carried away when I first started but since then I've reverted to a more minimal style, but it really is soo much fun ?
I asked if I needed a stethoscope or any other medically related supplies, and was told that I didn't need to get one (to only get the things on the to- do list) . So now I wonder when we will need to get them or if the school will supply it themselves eventually.

My BLS is still good until October 2021. I had a physical already with my Physician, but she's booked until February (I had to go to urgent care to have the forms filled). I did everything else on the checklist, besides the drug test (my appt is at 2pm).
Yes! I can't wait to sit down and decorate my journal (I love crafts).
My mate purchased my stethoscope as a gift, along with other supplies. If I do not use it, at least I'll have it for a just in case moment or when we do start officially working. If you're thinking about getting one get it, you'll need eventually.
On another note, I was hoping to hear how the other students from Fall 2020 is surviving their first semester, and to get a few pointers.
Once we do our orientation we should see if some of the others want to do a facebook page or another method to keep in contact for support.

Oh that great, you almost have everything completed.
And yes I was also hoping to hear from some current students. It would be really helpful to hear about their experiences...hopefully one of them comes across this thread eventually LOL
I love the idea of connecting with more students during orientation. We're all in a cohort so we might as well take advantage of that ☺️
And no, I still need to obtain my ID I also plan to go in next week for that as well.
I haven't been in school for about a year now so I'll have to stock up on supplies soon as well. I'm gonna be pretty busy next week ?
What kind of stehescope do you have btw? And are there any other nursing specific supplies you'd recommend I get?

There's a few other students on the Monroe college's page on this site. Some are from the Fall 2020 semester and 1 or 2 are from ours.
I actually used a passport photo app and submitted my photo to be mailed since I live in Brooklyn.
I opted for the Littman III , I wanted the Cardio IV, but my mate didn't like the reviews that stated a lot of people were losing their diaphragms. I also picked up a pen light and scissors. The other stuff was strictly for studying (pens, index cards, paper, etc).
Also I found this site that gave me a free book download code for pdf nursing books some are up to date and some are like last year's or older, you might can find something useful. Website: emedbooks.net , I don't know if the code will work, but give it a try FREE100 (I wouldn't trust spending money with them though).

Yeah I was debating still getting one for school, I'm gonna need one eventually, but it would be nice to save money where I can ?. I also hear the Littman III is a reliable choice, so id probably get that one.
Ill use an app to send my photo in, I was wondering if that would work, so I'm happy to hear it did.
And thank youuu soo much for the website link. I really appreciate it. I'll try out the code ?
@Ashley Reyes I sent you a private message

I'm sorry you weren't able to make the deadline. I also missed the deadline for the fall semester originally, so I understand how disappointing that is.
The interview was very straightforward, they really just want to get an idea of their type of person you are. It included questions like "why do you want to be a nurse "and "why monroe college". My best advice to you is to show confidence in yourself and display a true desire and passion for Nursing. The questions really aren't the type to trip you up or blindside you.
I hope that helps! And I wish you the best of luck ?
Hi everyone, I am accepted in Monroe college for nursing progressive program for Winter 2021 too . It would be a great Idea if we make a facebook (MODERATOR EDIT) group
