Anyone currently attending Monroe College?

Hello Everyone!

I've just received my acceptance into Monroe College's Progressive Nursing Program for the Winter semester! So I just figured id make a thread for any other people who are currently attending or have recently gotten accepted into the program.

For those of your currently attending, how is it going so far?

Is there anything I should know before the semester starts?

Id love to hear how everyone is doing and possibly get to know my fellow nursing students!

I was told that the  uniform tops are purchased from Flynn o' hara , and we can get the white scrub pants from any other place ,as well as any white footwear.

I am just trying to do as much as I can before I go back to work in a few weeks.

I’ll be taking Pharm and fundamentals as well!  I am a little concerned about that not being enough credits to be full time though. I’m wondering if an advisor can allow me to take another class I need, (maybe like microbio or something)  so that I can be considered full time.  I need as much aid as I can get ?

Thank you for letting me know about the uniform requirements! I can at least get started on looking for scrubs ?

Hopefully we can have our things (mostly) sorted out by December, so we have enough time to prepare properly.

and yeaaaaa I know some people are able to do it. I don’t think I can though ? You’re a trooper if you can push through and do so!

were busy Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
Lectures online and clinical seems like will be in person, but it isn’t confirmed yet

Monroe just sent something regarding my financial aid, I don't know if thats means something but I haven’t gotten any word if I got accepted or no. ? yikes!

Call the nursing department and asked them.  When is the last time you reached out? The lady in the nursing department is extremely helpful and nice.  Don’t want to post names(against allnurses terms of service), but you should hopefully know who I am talking about (she set up the interview ?).

No one reached out to me since my interview. And I’m getting worried ?

I just did, they said that they have not made a decision yet.

I am hoping it’s mostly online, for now I decided to stick with doing the HHA instead of working as a CNA, gives me enough flexibility. Luckily, I have really good patients that don’t stress me at all, I can sit with them while I take class or just reschedule visits till when I am available. I am hoping it works that way for me because I really don’t want to stop working at all. Hopefully, we get to finish in 12 months and be done with this.

They sure will get back to you, at least they haven’t made any decision yet so there is hope. Did you apply for the accelerated 2nd degree or the progressive?

Normally they say to wait 2 weeks. One of the other schools that I got accepted to, had me wait two months for my acceptance letter,(that was a killer). Did you ask if your application is on hold or is it just still in the review stage?

Hi, I am having the same problem, that haven’t reached out to me yet, so I called and they said mine is on hold.
