Anyone in Ct doing the LPN to RN from The College Network

Published

I have all the books but haven't taken any of the test yet- I only have to take Nursing 1-8 and 2 science tests then the clinical- its just a point of starting it. Any advice- are the test CLEPS really hard? Has anyone completed this yet?:nurse:

Have you started the course yet? I want to sign up but am reluctant because I have not spoken to anyone who has done the program. I don't want to be taken for a ride.

There are a bunch of existing threads here about The College Network, and members' experiences with and opinions of them. I encourage you to find them and review them before you make a decision and sign anything.

Please consider calling excelsior College and getting the information from them vs college network who not a college but a pricey publishing company that cannot give you a degree. They provide the modules to study costing you $10,000+ dollars vs going through Excelsior College and paying $6000. Get the facts or pay the price.

I am in Ct too and just graduated from an LPN program here and am really thinking about it, Does anyone know how much it costs, is it still $10,000 vs going through EC for $6,000?? I am willing to pay more if the TCN learning materials will help me, Do you pay for exam fees or is EVERYTHING included when you go directly through TCN??

TCN is a publication company, so none of the money you pay to them goes to Excelsior; they give you publications. You still have to be accepted by Excelsior, pay to enroll with Excelsior, and pay EC for the exams.

you know for some reason i thought that when you went with a publishing company they paid this for you but wrapped it up in the payment..am i wrong here.

I talked to TCN last year. They finance the modules, the enrollment fee,CPNE,Grad fee. But,you still have to pay for the exams on top of that.I opted not to go with them, but wish I could have my CPNE financed with those nice little payments,LOL:o

your kinda right. what college network charge you $500 for each exam module. then on top of that, they charge you like $205 to take the exam at pearson vue. so basically they charge you $705 to take 1 exam, whereas excelsior college charges $205 to take the very same exam. so would you rather pay $705 or $205 and buy the modules on ebay for $40-50.

they add most the ec cost into the 10,000 price tag. but that is only the nursing part. that does not include the general education modules + ec cost to register for the exam. you could possibly pay 12,000 15,000 for this education that does not include the yearly fee or graduation fee. that's totally insane to pay them that much money when you don't have to.

oh i agree .... i paid for 3 of my test, my enrollment fee and will pay for my cpne next tues all myself. but i got a ec scholarship that paid for the remaining 3 test ...right now i am sitting at paying $3500 out of pocket ...which is ok by me..but i have not had my cpne yet ...so i might just be looking at $3500 + $1900...i might just fall out if that happens.....

I am getting a price from TCN that is $13,000 they are claiming it includes EVERYTHING such as learning modules for all 14 classes (I have to take all classes), exam fees, all Excelsior fees, CPNE is tied into it too.. And they are saying if I fail a test, I have to pay to retake the second but if I fail that, than TCN will hire a tutor and pay for the particular exam until I pass.

I am not anticipating having that much trouble but I thought that the guarantee would be a plus.

I guess that I am thinking that the $13,000 included absolutly everything and I want to make sure that I do not sign on to something that is not including everything.

I also would like to add that when I called EC directly, I was told most exams cost $205 and for each credit earned, you have to pay $200 per credit, therefore, each "class" is $805. (if it is a three credit class)

When talking to the College Network, they say this is not true and have to just pay enrollment fee and exam fees.

UGH, I hate NOT to the right info especially when I am talking to the source,

So can anyone who has went through this clarify? Thank you, :D
