I was so offended yesterday!
I am not yet a nurse, but I am planning to go to college to major in nursing.
My boyfriend & I had a heated discussion yesterday about nursing.
He basically said "Anyone can be a nurse. You are gonna go to college for it, when my sister who dropped outta high school is taking classes & she will be YOUR boss. It is an easy job. You dont really do much; it just consist of memorizing info. You really don't do much work. ANYONE CAN BE A NURSE!"
I got so ****** that he actually did feel that way. I seriously want to be a nurse & for someone to say that all I'm doing is working under a physician & "handing him gloves" hurts my feelings.
Hi Indiawhitaker,As I have repeated this many times before, Hilary Clinton has said, and I quote "Nurses are overpaid and underworked" and another retired nurse heard her say, "Nurses are not worth anything over $6.00/hour"
She is NO friend to Nurses.
if you've heard this "many times before, care to provide a source/link?
i'd be happy to find hard data supporting either you or your friend's contentions.
so far, NO ONE has been able to support this.

Get away from him aqap !!!! Shallow men trained by "Men's magazines" usetrying to make women insecure as ways of keeping these women down and
controllable and "eager" to be more pleasing to her man... Users to the nth degree. ...and it will keep getting worse until someone more "useable" comes along.
Lots of wonderful Real men out there...break away and explore. Name calling is one step away from isolating and abusing you.
"Women's magazines" represent women about as realistically as the Oxygen Network. I can't imagine that men's magazines (I know what kind you're talking about) are very truthful either.
This is to all the people who want to doubt what I said about Clinton. I heard this garbage that she shouted concerning nurses on the radio in rural Georgia. Don't know the station call letters but it was out there in 1993 when her father was in the hospital dying. Obviously, she was distraught and angry and did not like nurses at the time. The other comment was from an older retired nurse who told me she heard that Clinton stated we didn't deserve anything over $6.00/hour. I believe this retired nurse and what I heard on the radio and I don't care if you believe me or not.
if anyone can be a nurse, then, why do we have such a nursing shortage? If anyone can be a nurse, then, why do you need them? maybe we should all just leave the hospitals and nursing homes and everywhere that nurses work, because "anyone can be a nurse". Then, see what happens to the healthcare system. You think its bad now? Imagine a health care system without nurses.

Think about it.... Such an inflammatory statement and NO ONE wrote a letter to the editor? There were NO articles about it in the paper? There are NO records of the radio tape? NO comments about this on the local news on TV? Hillary was high profile in 1993 - which lends credibility to the thought that she should receive even more documentation of what she says.
When all the evidence (or, in this case, lack thereof) points one way, it is time to rethink your stance, that maybe you misheard, or maybe your friend exaggerated, or maybe a different person said the quote, or a myriad of other possibilities which make a whole lot more sense than no evidence of what should have been a very explosive statement, that would have been all over the news. I really hope that you look at this from what is likely to be the truth, and not simply just something that might hurt your pride if you are wrong.
And, you are writing about a supposedly off-handed comment that was said 15 years ago. How is this relative to today, and to this thread?

Maybe it's time to look for someone who will take you seriously What does he do? Is he studying anything? Curious to know...

In the OP, she mentions that he works at the Dollar Tree and intends to be the next Bob Dylan, whatever that means.
There's nothing wrong with working at the Dollar Tree, but like I said in my earlier post, I've known a lot of musicians, and the greater their talent, the more realistic they were about the chance that they would make a living as a performer.
AYVAH, You are quite naive' to think the media would spread what Hillary, the golden women, the brilliant one said in 1993. The MEDIA covered her with armour, so she could say whatever she wanted to say. Of course the main media would not spread it around because what she said was "STUPID". Yes, this is related to the topic in hand, because women also think nurses are dumb and have cushy jobs. I don't know where this retired nurse heard the news about Hillary, but I was talking to her in a hospital in Austin, TX, while getting blood work done. Believe it or not, if Hillary said it now...it would be blasted everywhere in the main media because the Clinton's are tarnished and the bloom is off the flower. I don't think you understand politics. Why did she shadow a nurse and only for 4 hours without once getting her hands dirty. If she really wanted to know what a nurse does, she would be there at 6:45am and work the whole shift without a pee break and work at backbreaking SPEAD. She hasn't a clue what we do and I will say it again...SHE IS NO FRIEND TO NURSES.
