Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?

Published

Just wondering if anyone has taken this 12month program? Seems like a decent alternative to Mt. St. Mary's and CSUN as this is right here in Orange County.

Commetns appreciated.

KRomney,

Thanks for the info! I am looking forward to applying. It seems from everyone's post that got accepted that CUI is a great school! Do you have any additional advice on the admissions criteria? Thanks

Yeah, I will try and help answer some of your questions. Send me a PM if you can, otherwise i'll try and answer them on here!

For all CUI alums and current students, what are some of the hospitals you did (will do) your clinical rotations?

During my year we did rotations at Saddleback (Laguna and San Clemente), Mission Hospital (Mission Viejo), Fountain Valley, CHOC, CHLA, Little Company of Mary San Pedro and Western Med Anaheim (both psych). Some preceptorships were at St. Joe's and now I think they have some at Hoag too.

Do any of you know how many students they take at the start of each term? (not sure if this was asked already)

I want to say 40? It might be in previous posts, but is on the website! I think under frequently asked questions.

Thanks KRommey! I'll check out the website.

Hey NMH,

I was looking into applying to the Accelerated BSN program at Concordia this upcoming semester and was hoping you could give me any feedback on your overall experience. Would you recommend it?

-How were you able to afford tuition?

-In terms of "healthcare experience," how is this best achieved? Simply volunteering at a hospital? I've found that it is very difficult to do so, what advice would you give.

They take around 30 (at least in the last 3 classes). Overall the experience was very good. The small class size is beneficial and the professors and instructors are very accessible. In general the nursing school is still fairly new and, as with any new program, there are still kinks to be worked out. It is accelerated so the program is A LOT of work so be prepared to not have a life for a year.

I paid for everything with loans because I had no savings and you're not really able to work during the program.

How has your experience been in paying off these loans? Was it worth it, or would you recommend choosing a less expensive though lengthier program?

thanks!

are the recommendation letters supposed to be sent directly by my professor to Concordia? or do I submit it together with my application and transcripts, etc?

thank you.
