Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

Cool. Maybe he can have a torrid affair with the Marquis de Sade -- was that even the same era? Doesn't really matter I suppose, cuz since when are trashy romances historically accurate anyway? Hmmm, and keeping with the French, what about a "revenge" scene with the Count of Monte Cristo? Have fun :)

It's going to take place on Elba during Napoleon's exile...and the heroine is a woman with a secret past (her father is the most notorious, dreaded pirate of the Barbary Coast and she's in exile because she fell in love and had sex with a lowly shepherd's son...) Napoleon makes her come into his home and work as his maid (S&M antics to follow)...Meanwhile, she falls in love with a fisherman on the island, who has a secret of his own...Will he save her from Napoleon and avenge her by going after her father??? You betcha!

Mind you, I've talked about writing this for years, so we'll see if I follow through...I could just as easily read myself (or refresh my A&P knowledge...you know, actual preparation for the adventure that lies ahead...)

I've got my acceptance letter all put together so I can send it off tomorrow! see you guys at Yale!!! -and now i'm off to LA to go celebrate and watch my ucla basketball team in their last home game of the season! wooo!! happy friday everyone!

Hi, does anyone know the process of selecting a Stafford lender? Do we just choose one from the list of lenders on the financial aid website and Yale fin aid office deals with the rest?? I never had the choice to select a lender- just wondering if that means i need to apply before hand or not...a bit confused but I did email the office.

I sent in my deposit. see you all in the fall!

Hey, does anyone know if we need to send in those 2 photos WITH the deposit, or can they come later? And they're just regular passport-size, right? Thanks!

Hey Lauralou, I was just pondering that myself over the weekend. I may call/write tomorrow to find out. Will post any reply that I receive.

I was going to send mine in with the deposit... Do you think they have to be actual passport type photos, or can they be any pictures of us that size?

They just have to be pictures of that size.

This is kind of a random question. But, how is everyone sending their responses? By regular mail or are they sending it priority or something else?

I had a passport picture from a few months ago, and I sent it in along w/ another pic that was 2x3 inches (i think they said they want ones around 2.5x3.5) But just fyi, the passport picture is a lot smaller, like 1.5 x 1.5 or something. I sent it anyway though.

And kimiij: I sent mine I think it was either priority or registered mail... I forget. But it's the one where you can track it but they don't have to sign for it. Just so that I could have peace of mind knowing it got there.

You can get the pictures printed at Kinkos--it's actually a 'wallet-sized' photo. I put a picture on a disk, and there's a photo machine at Kinkos (call yours to make sure). For $1.99, I inserted my disk and printed a sheet of 4 wallet-sized photos. Cut them up, and you get two bonus ones! Just what you want...you can totally give them to a friend and pretend you're in high school again...

FYI, I emailed admissions today and found out that the pics are strictly for faculty/administration to get to know us (ie, they're not being used for a viewbook or any other purpose). So no need to sweat getting "passport"-type or other photos printed up in hurry. I just literally took whatever photos I had lying around and tried to neatly cut myself out of them ;)

This is what I did too...I actually used the proofs from my senior year in college! LOL.

I am going to send everything off tomorrow morning :)
