Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally found out through email instead of through snail mail. Angela is so cute with her emails. Anyways, for those of you who haven't gotten your letter, check your email because I think Angela sent an email to everyone saying congrats and letting those who got in know about a scholarship opportunity!

I'm in for Acute Care/Critical Care CNS!!! Woot woot!!! I'm so excited!!!

Also el-do. I'm still waiting on UCSF so I'm going to have to be deciding between the two also (that's if i get into UCSF). But yeah, I'll be in the same boat!!! My thing is the program itself (Yale's faculty really seems to care about its students and the students seem more like me at Yale), location (I'm from California), if my twin sister gets into UCSF (she applied to UCSF but not Yale), and tuition cost (which is half for UCSF compared to Yale). So yeah, what about you?

Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm so happy the wait is over!!!:w00t:

Kept finding spurious reasons to go out to the mailbox this morning, only to open my inbox and also find the email from Angela. I'm in for midwifery! gotta go buy some warm boots now.

I just checked my email and I am in for FNP! yay! Hopefully I will finally get my hard copy letter in snail mail. The wait is over. I hope that we all end up classmates in the Fall! :w00t:

Congratulations everyone!!!! It looks like we might have at least a quarter or a third of incoming class on this forum! I am very happy for all of you and can't wait to meet you in the Fall!

CaliforniaGirl2, I believe we met at the Interview day at Yale. You were in my small group session and I remember you talking about your twin sister who wanted to stay in California :) I was one of the two Oncology applicants in the group. I hope to see you at Yale!

I got in!! Yay! So happy. Finally found out today when I came home and got the mail.

I am going to be in the nurse-midwifery specialty.

Congrats everyone and I hope to see you all in the fall!

So where is everyone planning on living!?!

I was also wondering when you guys plan on moving out to New Haven? Do we know the orientation/school dates yet?? I haven't received my letter, only the email.

*So excited!* ---but sad to leave San Francisco! :crying2:

Hey guys, I just checked my email and got in also!!!! yay!!! I also was wondering what people were doing for housing. Im from the west coast, so was thinking about dorms to make the transition easier for me. Anybody else thinking about dorms. Also, Im not sure if Harkness or HGS sounds better for living conditions. Congrats everybody!!! Excited to meet all of you!

I plan on hopefully finding a roommate and an apartment in the East Rock or Wooster Square area (if anyone is interested let me know) - if I can't find a roommate then I will probably go with one of the dorms

So it seems like the majority of people who got in are going? This is so exciting! I cannot WAIT to get started and meet my future classmates!!!

and CONGRATS to everyone to heard today!!!

I was planning on living in the dorms, at least my GEPN year because I think it'd be easier (coming from the West coast as well) and meeting more people! :yeah:

I haven't gotten my letter yet either, but I'm assuming we'll learn about housing and applying for it?

I wanted to do dorms/on campus apartments or some kind of Yale-associated housing or apartments. I figured I couldn't do the dorms because I have cats, but I thought I could live in the on campus apartments. Nope! :crying2: So I will have to figure something else out!

Is everyone bringing a car out right away/buying a car?

I am glad other people are considering dorms as well. CaliforniaGirl2, you have to let me know which hall you end up deciding on living in. There seems to be pros and cons to both Harkness and HGS. I am thinking about bringing my car with me, but parking does cost a lot, so I am not sure if money wise, it will be worth it for how often I will use it. I know it will make some aspects of living there convenient though.
