Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

For those of you, who do not have the pre-nursing requirement and are afraid that you may not get into Yale. My friend just e-mailed me an info which I think might be helpful. NYU has an accelerated nursing program which will allow you to complete the pre-nursing requirements. The deadline is March 1st to apply. http://www.nyu.edu/nursing/academicprograms/bachelors/grads.html

Hey everyone, I'm in Seattle and got my acceptance letter yesterday as well -- big surprise, cuz I was sure I wouldn't hear anything until Weds. My friend here got hers too, for FNP. I applied for Adult/Women's Health and my letter says "Women's Health Nurse Practitioner" -- not sure if that's because the Adult track is a given....? Does anyone know? Congratulations to everyone! And to be on the waitlist is still pretty darn good -- you still have a chance! Good luck!

Congratulation lauralou2008

Thanks Yalienne! I have some decision-making to do! It may all come down to finances....

Well just remember, you are not going into sales. You are going into a recession proof career. If you need to take out private student loans do that. Soon you will be able to work as nurse and start making money. I really hope everything work out for you.

Did anyone in San Francisco hear yesterday?

Kyliese: No, I still haven't heard either. I live in Stanford, generally it takes an extra day for mail to arrive here.

Wait, you live at Stanford? I'm a Stanford grad student (though I live in the city). I'm in Anthropology Dept. What do you do on the farm?

Kyliese: My husband is doing his PhD here at Stanford, so we live here.

Hey -- I'm new to this thread but found out yesterday i was accepted into Yale for acute care (i live in berkeley, california). While I'm very happy about this, it presents a bit of a tough situation. I'm firmly planted in the bay area and really don't want to uproot my life and move 3000 miles. I was not accepted into UCSF but have an interview at Samuel Merritt (which is in Oakland) this Thursday. If i do get into Samuel Merritt, I very well may go there. Do you all think I'd be crazy to turn down Yale in favor of a school which does not have the name recognition nor the reputation of such an illustrious university as Yale? I feel so torn and confused about all this. I know Yale would be such a great opportunity and I was really impressed with the staff and prospective students during the interview/orientation day. It's just that the thought of moving away from everyone i love and the place where i've lived for 27 years fills me with, well, dread. Any advice would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Is anyone still waiting on the East Coast?
