Hey guys i saw a lot of threads about those applying in 2010...i was wondering if anyone was applying in 2011, planning ahead and stuff...i just recently changed my major to nursing and i'll be taking Patho 1 and A&P 1 next semester. It never hurts to plan early right...I attend UNM (University of New Mexico)....Nice to meet you guys
I'm applying for Fall 2012, hopefully.
Are those the only pre reqs they require for you to enter the nursing program? I'm applying to VCU and need to have 41 credits to get in.
My schedule will look something like this:
Spring '10
Bio 101
Summer '10
Eng 112
Spanish 1
Sociology
Fall '10
Bio 102(or higher science)
A&P 1
Spanish 2
Spring '11
Math 152 (or higher)
Psych
Micro
Spanish3
Summer '11
Nutrition
Delevopmental psych
Pilosophy
And the plan is to be DONE with all the pre reqs and move on to NUR classes at VCU. But....we all know how well made plans go.
Wish every one the best of luck!!! :)
Hi TamiLee! I'm in Northern CA, too and taking a similar set of classes. I registered late, but got into 2 classes for the Spring 2010 semester.
Spring 2010:
Nutrition
English 1A (300)
It looks like it might take me 4 semesters to get all the prereqs and coreqs done. But, since I'm a mom to 3: ages 14, 11 and 4, I don't want to try to pak too much in at once.
I'm going to apply to CSU's BSN program. I plan to complete the co-requisites and BS degree requirements prior to starting clinicals.
Hey Vintagemother!
I'm doing the same thing with taking all the pre and co reqs then doing the clinicals. I also have 2 kids (expecting my 3rd in may) and im worried with how ill do with kids and the class load (3-4 classes is heavy to me). Let me know how you do with your studies! I'd be interested to hear back :)
Hi TillyBaby08!
I'm glad to know there's someone else in my situation. Congratulations on your 3rd baby. I love children. We're trying for a 4th. I'm glad to read about another mom doing it going to school! I'm a little nervous, too. I have to get good grades in order to get into the program.
One thing I've done to prepare is to do searches on this board for tips on school from moms and copy and paste the responses into a word doc.
I will tell you that I have taken up to 17 units in 1 semester in the past when I had 2 kids. It wasn't that bad. But I wasn't even trying to get A's. Now, I have to get A's.

Well, I'm glad to that there's another mother out there in my situation. I'm really looking forward to getting into my nursing program. I don't really know much about my nursing program here, just hear say.
