Hey guys i saw a lot of threads about those applying in 2010...i was wondering if anyone was applying in 2011, planning ahead and stuff...i just recently changed my major to nursing and i'll be taking Patho 1 and A&P 1 next semester. It never hurts to plan early right...I attend UNM (University of New Mexico)....Nice to meet you guys
I'm applying for Spring 2011. I'm feeling good. I just need to finish A&P and then I can submit my application. My school just changed its policy for taking the TEAS to invitation only. So first you have to apply and they evaluate your transcript and tell you if you should sit for the TEAS. I'm feeling good. We are halfway through A&P and I'm averaging an A in lecture and lab so I just need to bring it home after the break and then send in my application.
If accepted for the spring semester I have to finish A&PII and Micro before I can begin so I plan to take A&P II in the summer, oh boy, 6 weeks will be a killer but I'm up for it. Then I'll take Micro in the fall and if all goes well, start nursing classes in the Spring. My school does not keep a wait list so I'm banking that things go accordingly for me.
I am applying for 2011 Nursing Program at LRCC in NH. I have the bulk of my prerequisites done so far...just finishing up some sciences. Just finished human biology this fall with an A, taking chemistry right now and doing pretty well, A & P I this summer, A& P II this fall, and microbiology next spring. I take the NLN on May 5th. I am anxious but extremely excited! Good luck to everyone!! :)
I plan on applying for the 2011 adn progam at gwynedd mercy college in pa. So right now im focusing on finishing high school. But from reading this forum I hear everyone saying how they are taking thier prerequisites well before school starts! I have no idea if I need to take any but I probably do. How are you guys taking these? At the college where you are planing on attending??? Do you have to get accepted into the program before taking them?? Any advice about how to start my prerequisites would really help me.

Hi Jess
You should talk to your school guidance counselor to see if he or she has any information on the school you want to attend. Or call the school yourself for information on the program.
Typically schools will have a set number of classes that need to be taken before being accepted into the nursing program.
Different schools do different things so you really have to check with the school that you want to go to.
In any event, once you are admitted to the college itself, as a Freshman, you are usually assigned an advisement counselor or you will have Freshman advisement day to help you you figure out the classes you need to take for your planned major. This is what was done at the schools I attended. You can always go to the advisement office to ask for help if you are not sure what classes you should be taking.
