Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?

I know it's been only 10 days, but when do we hear back??? Someone please write me and tell me you got my application already!!!

I just want to encourage all of you.

I am currently in the ELMSN program at the Oakland campus and I truly love it.

I love my instructors, I love the material, I love my classmates, and I don't find it disorganized at all.

I couldn't finish my pre-reqs in time to apply for my first choice which was Oak in May, so I am going to push it to S.F. in Nov. But from what I keep reading on these posts that sounds like a bad idea. I really haven't seen many people say that they had a good experience. Plus I have been reading all of the posts about the horrible job market for new nurses in the bay area. All of these things make me very nervous. Has anyone looked into the programs at Cal State East Bay or San Francisco and how they work if you already have a BS or BA degree? I was thinking it may not take that much longer...I don't know though. I just started thinking about it the last few days as I read through post after post of "your never going to find a job as a new grad" and "I hate Sam Merritt S.F." Pretty discouraging. I thought that this process would be a lot different than it is becoming. Oh well. Hopefully it will all work out in the end. Have you guys been hearing the same doom and gloom comments about the job market out here in the Bay? Does anyone know if you are more likely to get a job as an RN with a BSN over someone who went to a CC? Good luck to all of you, I hope to be in your nervous shoes soon.

I got my acceptance packet for san mateo last week. I hope the best of luck to you! i know the pain of waiting waiting....I was waitlisted number 3 and i had waited and waited and finally I got a call. so depending on what campus, it'll take different time for them to get back to you.

CONGRATULATIONS! You got your acceptance packet back really fast! Did you also turn in your application for the November 1st 08 Deadline? Or did you apply for the earlier deadline? I hope to be one of your classmates! When do yu start?

thanks everyone! I applied in JULy 1, 2008.....and I just got my packet last week......they are quite slow. I start the program Jan. 5 I think. I wish the best of luck to you guys. Feel free to message me with any admission apps questions since I know it's really difficult waiting.

I took the net for the first time and got an 88...the test is really easy, if you practice on your math and review grammar rules I think you will be fine.

As for GPA, I have a 3.17 from UC davis. I was afraid i wouldn't get in because there are many out there with higher grades. I had reallllllly good letter of recs and decent goal statement, so I think that helped me. and i didn't get in easy...i was waitlisted number three and got in. so I was really lucky.

I wouldn't worry yet, I sent mine in on Oct 28th and they haven't cashed my check either. I know they received it the next day because Laura accidentally called me instead of another prospective student regarding their application. Scared me, I thought I was missing something.

Thank you for your input!!! I am still confused for which one you applied for? When do you start? which campus are you planning to go to? I got 80% on composite score but my English is low... 60%, so do not know what my chances are :madface: I hate this waiting process!!!
