Anyone Applying to Samuel Merritt ABSN April, May, June 2009?

Is anyone else applying to ABSN at Merritt for Spring 2009. Let's post our experience the next 6 months here. I'm just getting started on my application due nov 1. Good luck. :up:

Dear iluvit,

SMC is VERY different now. Sorry to say.

Better to apply at Oakland (if you must) for lab/facilities or San Mateo for administration. Don't know anything about Sac, but again I don't reccommend this school and you will be hard pressed to find a recent grad who whole-heartedly does.

I knew from the beginning that it could be disorganized, but I prepared for that and kept copies of everything.

I just found out I am #5 on the waitlist for Sacramento :(

Does anyone know what my chances of getting a spot might be??

HI! I'm #3 waitlist for Sac. I think we both have a decent chance. I asked Liza earlier in the summer how many from the wait list typically make it in and she said from Sac its typically 8. Someone on another thread who is a current SMC Sac ABSN student said that she knows of a #7 who got into her class.

I am really hoping :)

Thank you so much for giving me hope! I was so crushed to hear I am waitlisted! Do they keep those 8 or so spots open for waitlisted people or is it based on who decides not to go?

hmm... I never even thought about that. I just assumed they would open up if others who were initially accepted declined the offer. But i could be wrong.

From previous conversations and emails with Liza, it really can be up until when the program starts. She said that in the past they've called up ppl the day before classes start and asked if they were ready to start the next day. I guess our fate is in the hands of those who have already been accepted.

Thanks for all the info.. I've been in agony waiting this whole month.. and now there is more waiting!! I guess I'll just start on other applications for now.. Good luck to you!

hey hurleygrly137, have you gotten your wait list confirmation letter yet? I think Liza might have gotten me mixed up with another person with the same name as me and now I'm so worried that I'm not even on the wait list anymore! I don't know if I should email her again or if I am just being paranoid... :(

I think you guys have a pretty good chance of getting in. With the economy as it is, there are some that have accepted, but are waiting to hear back from less expensive schools.

Yay! I handed my application in to the admissions office today in Oakland! I didn't expect it to end up so last-minute but I finally got my last letter of recommendation this morning! I guess when I told him that the deadline was November 1st he thought he didn't need to start until Halloween! Whew. Now the long wait begins.... Good luck everyone!
