Hi!
I am trying to start a thread for people applying to the Lansing Community College Nursing Program Spring 2010!
Any and all posters welcome!
Crystal
Also, as far as getting into the Part-time program, I'm sure you will do fine with 80 points. I had 80 points and I got into the Full-time program. I know there are not as many applicants for the part-time. I knew someone that got into the part-time w/ 72 points. I also think that they offered seats in the part-time program to students that wouldn't get into the full-time program (due to points) or those that were on the wiating list. Hope that helps a little bit. Let me know if you have more questions!
OMG... I got my letter 2 days ago that told me my application was accepted. And they calculated my points as 75. I think my heart stopped. I was suppose to have 80 points! So it turns out that my psych 200 that I took at JCC 9 years ago was a 3.0 instead of a 4.0. Mind you I have taken 6 higher level psych classes at LCC int he last 3 years most with a 4.0, a couple with a 3.5.
Well that 3.0 brought my 3.5 GPA down to a 3.48?. This drops me down 1 bracket in the GPA, so instead of 35 points I only got 30.
So for 1/100th of a point, my points drop by by 5, and I go from almost positively getting a seat in the part-time program to there is no way in hell I will get a seat.
The worst part is I have so many credits that they extended my Financial aid this year providing I get into the program. If I don't get in this year I most likely will not get fin aid any more, so I will not be able to apply next year.
I HATE MY LIFE!!! Vent over
Diane
Keep your head up... you may still have a shot at the p.t. program! Like I said, I knew someone that got in w/ 72. Stay positive!!!
Thanks, I will try to think positively. After talking to ----- -------, she referred my to ---- ------ to ask if I could possibly use one of my Psych classes from LCC instead of the one I took at JCC since they are more recent and reflect more accurately my abilites now then a class I took 9 years ago.
I am not holding my breath tho.
I have also started looking in to Kellogg Community College, I heard it was easier to get in there. I am waiting on a reply to an email I sent to a former student to get more info, then I will probably call selective admissions at Kellogg on Monday and talk to them. I obviously need a back-up plan right now.
Oh Diane I am so sorry to hear about the points calculation. I do not see why they wouldn't use one of the newer Psyc classes that you attended at LCC over the one 9 years ago. When is the last time you talked to someone from LCC about it? I would defentiantly contact the selective admissions department and ask them if it can be done. DO NOT give up! Keep trying! And please let me know what you find out.
Crystal
Oh Diane I am so very sorry. I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. If I were you I would call BAKER and see what you can find out about their program and if you might be able to get into it. I wish you the best of luck and just don't give up. You will get into a school, even if it takes a little time. I wish you the best of luck and you will be in my prayers!
