Anyone Applying to Delta College for Spring 2011

With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.

Did everyone get all the recommended books? I did, but now I am wondering if I will need them all?? I ordered from Amazon, and got all of them cheaper than the used price at school. Just have to get the 2 bundles on Monday.

Hi Kristi, I ordered the two bundles from Delta bookstore. They're having a 50% off their shipping til 12/31 so it's $7 for the 1st item, and $1 for the next. So I ordered the two bundles and the worksheet and paid $9 shipping. I just couldn't get there before today (when they close for the semester) and I wanted to look them over before school starts. They kind of get you with the bundles since you don't know what's in the package and are forced to buy from the bookstore. I got the All in One nursing care plans book at Borders since I had a 40% off coupon so it was only $30.

harry I bought 9 books and didn't opt to buy 3 of the others that were recommended. 2-3 of them where pharmacology so I don't know that you will need those since you just passed, yeah!

I am buying only required books. I already have medical terminology book, my mom iscurrently taking that class, I already have med dictionary, and additionally, i don't need pharmacology books. What are those bundles for? I am trying to save money............:kiss

I'm with you harry, I need to save money. I am hoping that they aren't specific to the medical terminology book needed because I have one but its not the same. I already have the tablers med dictionary but the other two I'm going to hold off on. I think the only way we get out of buying the bundles is if you already know a first year nursing student who doesn't want to keep theirs. It looks like it was made specifically for delta's rn program.

Brit and I both had problems with the NSO people and adding Nursing to our CNA insurance...and the people are rude...It usually takes a day for them to add you as a Student Nurse and send you a copy of the new certificate. Then you have to fax a written statement to get your insurance bumped up to $1m/$6M...I faxed mine and sent an email and havent heard anything yet....I did send an email to Julie Lang and she said just submit the most current one I have and after they update it then submit a the new one..let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks AlyKat...I tried to find another carrier but they were all pricier, so I guess I will be jumping through their hoops next week. Keep me updated with your status! Maybe we can all call them at the same time, hehehe

Has any of the documents you guys loaded onto Magnus Health Portal been approved yet? I loaded some of the documents like two weeks ago but they all still say approval pending?

Hey everyone! I got a call from MJC today and was offered a spot in their nursing program for the spring and took it because it's closer to where I live. :D I just wanted to wish everyone good luck in the program and also thank everyone for their help getting things completed for Delta!

Pagan - Mine also all say pending and I've had mine up for about 10 days.
