Anyone Applying to Delta College for Spring 2011

Published

With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.

Kristi what is the model of Littman you prefer? I've never had a stethescope of my own so I'm curious what people are using?

This is the sethoscope I am going to order. You don't want to get the cardiology or pedi ones because we are going to be using it on all types of people mainly for physical assessment. Oh yah and it has to have a bell, so look at the ones that have two sides like this one.

Thanks Kristi for the input, its very much appreciate. I have a Littman Master Classic II but it doesn't have a bell on it. I was thinking about the cardiology III. Just because I was hoping to hear a little better than the one I have. I have it for about 7 years but I never really used to very much. I really only use it to listen to the kids lungs when they are sick, the kiddos have had their fun with it too, they are soo amazed to hear their own heart. So Its time for a new one.

One of the nurses I work with told me not to get the cardiology one. That's why I am going for the other one. I have a very old one that was pretty cheap.

Hi guys!

The Cardiology III stethoscope is a fantastic one! It is the one I use. It has an adult side and a pediatric side. It does have a diaphragm and a bell, but the difference between them is how hard you push down on your patient. I have never had a problem with it and I have always been able to hear what I need. Several of us have this stethoscope and we are all very pleased.

Thanks Renee for the advice and checking in on us. Always nice to here from those that have very recently be thru what we are about to embark on;)

Kristi thanks for the link, those prices are alot cheaper than my local uniform supply store!!!!! Maybe the UPS driver will dress up as santa for me, lol.

Thanks Renee,

I asked one of the nurses at work and he told me not to get the cardio one, not sure why, I didn't ask. Thanks for your input though. I want to get the one that will enable me to hear best, I wish we could test them out first, lol.:):)

It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one with kids. I'm so worried about managing everything one school starts. It sounds like the cardiology III is a good pick according to Renee, I am thinking I may get that one too. I only really used a stethoscope for blood pressure as an MA so I never had to listen to patients hearts/lungs.

My friend is done with his first year at Delta also told me to get a Cardiology one. However I think the Cardiac Stethoscope is more expensive. But according to my friend it's definitely a good investment.

Hello everyone. I think that I have decided to accept my spot in the program, as long as I can get eveything done on time.

I have a question though. DoI have to wait to get my email before I can do the drug test? I have already submitted my backgroud info, but have not received an email giving me more detail.

slrberry you have to pay for the background check with Magnus $87 then they will send you an email attachment for your background check. Mine took about 2 days, I paid for it and 2 days later I got the email. Good Luck
