With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.
Hi guys,
I think we just have to fill out the immunization form and have it signed and stamped and the physical form. I e-mailed health sciences and she wasn't very helpful about the TB but I am pretty sure since I had one in July I just go get one more and get it read. If you haven't had one in the last 6 mos I think you need to get 2 done. This is what she emailed me "If you read the back of Appendix D it states 'If a student has a negative TB in the past 6 months, then only a single step TB is needed." Please call if you have any other questions. I think I am going to buy Danskos for shoes. All the nurses I work with have them and love them.
I'll have to check out the Danskos shoes (as well as the Nurse Mates ones). Thanks for the suggestion Kristi. Where's a good store to get them from? I had wide feet and we're on our feet a lot so I need good shoes.
Kristi, I also saw that about the TB test so since I had one in September and then I had one now, I should be good to go, hopefully!
A friend of mine who is currently in his second semester of nursing told me that the stethoscope is not included in the skill kit. He also told me to invest in a good one because you use it a lot. He told me that one of his classmate purchased one for $75 and it wasn't that great. So he actually bought his for $150 and it was much better.
Harry I think you might have misunderstood my blog. Your right, the CPR class isn't hard. This summer when I needed the class it was hard to find a healthcare provider class. I found lots of community based classes but only one Healtcareprovider class. It sounds like health science is working with us on deadlines. So shouldn't be a problem. Glad you were able to get the class completed. Congrats on ticking off one more thing off your list!
Does anyone know how strict they are going to be on the "Stamp and Sign" each immunization box thing. My docter signed every box and then the stamp was so big they did a stamp for about every 2 boxes. Do you think they will say anything? I am so worried about it. Did anyone figure out if we need actual copies of immunizations/test results too or just the immunization form and physical form? I got my Liability Insurance and supply kit today. Littman is a good brand for stethoscopes, if you go cheap it is hard to hear. Check out Allheart.com or Uniformcity.com. I have ordered stuff from them for years.

OMG brit I was just wondering the same thing...so do we just get our immunization form signed off ?? Or do we have to submit each of our separate lab results for our titer?? ugh I'm confused.. I also noticed this..
A statement from the physician verifying the administration of the vaccine, or reasons for not doing so, must be submitted.
So do our Dr.'s have to write something up too?? aside from signing our paper? Either I'm stressing too much or this is not very clear
