anyone applying to CU for 2010?

Published

Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.

I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.

BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.

oops I goofed...disregard this post.

Hello Everyone -

For those of you who are admitted, or have had some experience with UC Denver, I would love some feedback.

My question is this : Is there anyway that I will not be allowed to participate in the nursing program (clinicals) because of my background? So far I am choosing UC Denver over another college AND moving all the way from Alaska to attend, so if I move to Denver and then not allowed to start/complete the nursing program, I will be devastated. Has anyone out there had any experience with this, especially with UC Denver?

I have already put in a call to the UC Denver office, however the lady who can help me is out of town. In the meantime, I was hoping for some feedback and piece of mind regarding this issue.

Thank you in advance for any replies!

Hi clapper. I actually attend NAU's accelerated program now and am graduating this December. I also got my undergrad in Psychology from CU Denver back in 2002. I love both school and would have been happy to have gone to either for my nursing degree. What I'm totally flabbergasted by is the fact that you were offered a spot in NAU's accelerated program and you might not take it??? It's only 12 months now and so you'd be graduated with a BSN not long after you'd start at CU!!! Plus, the traditional program at CU will take you 2 years as opposed to 1, right? I dunno, and I'm sure you have losts of other mitigating factors, but I say take NAU's offer and be done with your BSN 14 months from now! I can't imagine that your DUI would keep you from getting into the program if all charges were dropped. The way NAU explained it to us...most common offenses won't lead to the BON denying your ability to get a license, it just delays the process cause they have to research it. Murderers...no, multiple DUIs...no, felony drug charges...no. But someone with 1 DUI should be just fine. Seriously...do you know how many people have past charges or DUIs??? If the BONs denyed all nurses with a history of DUI, then there'd be way fewer nurses than there are now! Good luck with your decision and congrats on your acceptances!

Did anyone who got in for summer 2010 receive the next information package in the mail yet? I got that email saying that the pin numbers got mixed up, but I did not even receive anything yet. They supposedly sent it out friday, so I would think that it would be here by now. Has anyone received it?

I haven't received mine either but I did get the email. I was going to call them tomorrow to inquire about it... seems like the whole thing is a bit of a cluster right now.

Hmm I didn't get the email Friday. I did call and they told me my file was complete and that we would receive further information by the end of April or early May in the mailbox. Let me know if you get anything in the mail!

Cdids,

Let us know what they say. I don't want to miss any deadlines.

Well... I just got off the phone with someone from the Nursing School and she was less than cordial with me! After making me feel stupid for calling instead of just reading the email she said they are still working on it and should get info soon. I believe her exact words were "well if you would just read the email that we sent to you, you would know what is going on." I explained that the email stated the packets already went out in the mail so that's why I called and I got a big *SIGH* in response. She then told me "you can't even register until May anyway so don't even worry about it". Yikes!!! I thanked her for her time and she hung up on me. Must be having a rough day. I guess I will just wait patiently for my new packet and hope I don't run into that lady in the hallways :)

Oh, wow. Sorry you had to put up with that. I think it was a valid question. The email was not clear. It made it seem as if we should have already received the packet. Well, at least now we can have some peace about it. Thanks for sharing.

I never received an email, what exactly did it say?

Looking forward to meeting all of you in June!! :)

Did you get a registration packet yet Stellagirl? The email basically said they totally screwed up the information for registration and need to send out correct packets to us. I got a call this morning from Julie, MUCH more pleasant than the other lady I talked to yesterday. She was calling to see what if anything I got in the mail. I haven't received anything in the mail. So she said she was dropping a new packet in the mail today and gave me a number to call if I didn't get anything by Wednesday. Hopefully I get something before we actually have to register!

By registration packet, do you mean the paperwork that came with the acceptance letter (immunizations, in-state questionnaire, drug test form etc)? I got all of that, but not anything else. Well actually, I did get something saying I was approved for in-state tuition. That's about it.

No, they were supposed to send us all of the information on how and when to register as well as info on the drug testing. All I received in the mail so far was the in state tuition information.
