Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.
I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.
BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.
Hey, everyone-
I got my packet in the mail today with all the goods. There are quite a few dates to keep track of, and some very exciting information: book requirements, registration info, orientation info, etc. I AM SO PUMPED for June!
By the way, has anyone already started a FB group for the June 2010 cohort (Trad.)? If not, I am more than happy to get one going! Let me know!
Sorry to hijack your thread, but as a soon to be BSN grad of UCD (one month exactly :)) I wanted to say congratulations! I remember the excitement and the nerves in those weeks building up to starting school. It will seem so overwhelming, but I promise you can do it! Keep your head up, stay organized and use all of the resources available to you. The teachers (for the most part) are fantastic. Just remember when times get hard and you feel like it will never end, that you will be there before you know it and ready to face the challenge of venturing out into the real world! Have fun!
Work in progress, that's so exciting that you are going to graduate soon!! Congrats on that. Did you enjoy the program? Was it really challenging? Also, I see that you are a nurse intern. What place did you intern for? I am thinking I want to get some medical experience before I graduate from UCD. Any suggestions on how to go about this?
For the most part, I really enjoyed the program! There were bureaucratic frustrations and such, but even so, I would still recommend the program. It is challenging, but not overly so. It is not like some of those schools you hear about on allnurses that are trying to weed people out. This school weeds people out through the application process. They want you to succeed and help to make that happen. There are tutors available if needed and the professors are very helpful.
I am an intern at Denver Health, but they are actually discontinuing the program at the end of this year. It is okay, because I wouldn't recommend it anyways. I would recommend that you apply for the UCH Advanced Care Partner role after completing Fundamentals and Med/Surg I- it is their nurse intern role. The reason I would recommend it above other things is that it gives you a very distinct advantage in getting into the New Graduate Residency program upon graduation. You can check out uch.edu in the careers section to find out more about it. I think getting medical experience is pretty much necessary if you want to get a job in Colorado. Only those that had CNA/EMT/nurse intern jobs from the December class have had any luck getting a job as an RN.

Gotcha. That's what I thought. Hopefully, we will be getting the packet in the next few days...It will be nice to know a little bit more information on classes and such.
