Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program

Published

I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application?

Thanks everyone!!!

Where do I go to get the NS application for AVC? They don't have it on their website

at the health sciences office in the applied arts building. i believe they are currently relocated at the temporary buildings behind CSUB though, where the sheriffs academy is.

Specializes in I'd like to get into neonatal or ob-gyn.

you can pick a copy at the Health Science Division office at T 502A (Entrance K off Avnue J-8) I think this is their temporary office location till August 8. Office opens 730-6pm M-Th.

But when Fall semester starts, I think they will be back in their "regular" office location which is in the APL121B

Hello everyone! I'm new to allnurses, but not avc. Can't wait to start nursing in a few weeks and meet some of you! :nurse:

welcome kdbean530! :) Isn't it exciting? First Day of school is almost here!

Looking forward to meet you and everyone else

Have you started on the math from the manual? I just have the practice test left. I ended up taking dosage calc. while waiting to get in, so that helped me a bunch!

Yep already finished :) Dosage calculation class definately helped, I took a class similar to that in a different college. I started the nursing theory readings 2 weeks ago, but I'm sort of taking my time with it hehe..

Thanks for the add btw!

Awesome! I'm taking my time too. Absorbing the last few days of freedom :lol2:

oh yea... I definately agree! Making the next (last) 3 weeks of freedom last:)

Hi everyone...

Anyone here on waitlist for the bridge program? Is it true that there's a two year wait for LVN's to get into the program?

Thanks

Not sure about the waiting time for the bridge, but a friend of mine dropped out of first semester and was going to apply again, but the waitlist for the RN program is 2 years now.

Wow! 2 years for the generic program...that hurts...I applied this April and took the TEAS in May. I was waiting for the bridge class but unfortunately, it wasn't offered this summer. I received a letter stating materials will be sent this fall regarding acceptance or what not. But it was left too vaguely so I can't really tell if I'll be accepted in Spring 2012 or does the budget still play a major role in deciding for the class. I mean how do they calculate how many LVNs get in the third semester. Does it depend on how many fail/drop the generic program? I was told by Karen that they did have the bridge class last Feb 2011, but it took the college three years to start the class. So now I'm wondering if it will take another three years to wait for the next program. :uhoh3:
