Anyone applying to ACC (Austin Community College) or Temple College for Fall 2008???

Published

I'm new to allnurses community but just recently turned in my applications to both Austin Community College and Temple College.

I've not applied to ACC before and was turned down last year by Temple but I did really bad on the NET compared to other students (only a 74 composite) so I wasn't suprised to have been rejected. This year I did much better so I'm hoping the tides will turn..... I'd really like to get into ACC because it is closer to home but at this point I'll take either!!!

Oh well, just wanted to say hello and see if there are any other wanna be nursing students, like myself, living in the Austin, TX area waiting to know what their futures holds :-)

Take care and have a great evening!

Hi there! You should really try ACC, there's not a wait anymore, I got in the first time I applied. This is my first semester and it is busting my chops, good luck!

ginabanina- I think we HAD to have the same Micro class last semester!!!

A bit of a Napoleon complex.... if you understand that then we definately did!!!!

I think you are correct.... a short man with an attitude LOL

I've never been so glad for a class to have ended in my entire college career!

OK, I'm signing up for micro this summer. Can you give me a hint of who this guy is? Some initials, maybe?

Initials are RL!!

Private message me if you want the full name! LOL!

:D Thanks! I see him on the schedule, but I'm trying to get a class at the South Austin Campus.

How does micro compare with anatomy? I'm in anatomy now, and it's not bad as long as I study. I work about 30 hours a week, and my daughter is now in school, so I'm handling it all fine. This summer I'm contemplating taking micro and pharma, working, and basically having my daughter around. (She's 10 and pretty good at entertaining herself, but can also be a major distraction.)

What do you all think? I can put off pharma until fall and take it with physio. Is that a more doable option?

Thanks for the opinions!

I am also attending ACC currently taking prereqs. Does anyone know how difficult the mobility track program is to get into at ACC? Im applying in like 3 weeks and really paranoyed.

To get in to the Mobility Track program you have to have be a LVN or EMT (or something like that, there's a list on the website), then do all the pre-reqs. A couple of friends of mine got right in the first time they applied. Good luck!:nurse:

For those of you applying to Temple College; what are your GPA's? For anyone already in the program, what was your GPA when you were accepted? I'm starting to panic again.....

just jumping in here.........

I'm currently finishing my associates degree in another area then I will be retaking Anatomy and Physiology since mine are over 5 years old. I too will be applying to ACC and Temple, but since I will already have and Asc degree I'm really interested in Texas State's program (although not having much luck getting info :(). Can't wait till I'm actually in the program....I've been working on this off and on for 17 years gawd........but I'm actually seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

As far as GPA goes.... mine for Temple is 3.8 and 3.7 for ACC.

Last year I didn't get into Temple w/ a 3.4 gpa but I did horribly on the NET and that brought my score WAAAAY down so it's not just about GPA.

For the love of christmas I'm just tired of waiting!!!!

I think Temple usually sends letters mid to late May and I hear rumors that ACC should be sending something out in the next 2 weeks for the first 100-130 students accepted. They may take more than that if they get additional staff but I don't think we'll know if that happens until June.

Good luck to all of you out there! Hopefully, we'll all know something soon :-)
