Hi, everyone! I am a wife with 2 kids, 15 and 9. My husband is out of country now and for four more weeks. I am taking Spanish 1 and nutrition at DSC now to be able to apply to UCF at Daytona next year. I have a 4.0 GPA and 75 teas score. I don't think I have time to study to take another teas test with my summer classes. I am Chinese learning Spanish. It is not easy! I am just gonna hope that not everyone apply has a 4.0 GPA. I like to read your story if you like to share.:)

Congratulations Incoming Juniors!:yeah:

It feels like just yesterday i was scanning this site trying to find info about the program, Your time is going to fly by, But i just wanted to welcome you all and congratulate you on your accomplishment of making it this far. but also to give you a very strong piece of advice. we will just call it and say you have 3 months left before you start. Take time and enjoy yourselves as much as possible, spend extra time with family or your significant other. When you start you're going to hit the ground running and for 18 months you're not going to have very much time for anything else. In the grand scheme of things the time will be just a drop in the bucket and you all WILL make it, any of the seniors will help you as much as possible and give you all of our tricks and tips. Take it easy everyone and remember to stop smell the roses and enjoy freedom because for 18 months you will eat sleep and breathe NURSING;)......

peace and prosperity~

Take his advice! It's for real.

Hi, everone

I am finally in!!! They called me Monday and ask me if I am still interested. YES is what I told them. Now I am waiting for the email to sign and fax back. Still not getting it yet.

BSN023, thanks for your concern. Can't wait to see you all in person.

That's awesome! Congrats. :)

Demi I am really happy to hear that! We are all still waiting on more information, but it should be coming soon. Congrats on getting in!!!

Y'all better show up to the Meet and Greet! lol :) They'll let you know when it is sometime soonish hah. We've got lots of plans to help you guys!

Got my email with all those things I need to do.

Kay, I should go see my family doctor first for my immunization and physical before the background check, right?

And what and when is the "Meet and Greet"?

You can do either one first. You'll just have to have everything together and they'll give you deadlines for specific things - make sure you meet them. And the meet and greet is just a day where you come in and meet the instructors and the seniors and we try to convince you not to run screaming ;) That'll be in early December, but last I heard we were still working out the kinks of a date because it's our finals week.

Kay, I'm looking for your stethoscope input. Is the Littmann (Classic II SE) they suggest really a decent enough product for the program, or would you get something different if you had whatever hindsight you might have now. Thanks.

The Littmann's are definitely great. I think everyone or nearly everyone has one in the program. Most people either got the Classic II SE or the Cardiology III. It depends how much you want to spend. I'd recommend getting it engraved though, they're too expensive to allow them to walk off!

The 206.00 nursing kit that we have to buy doesnt come with a stethescope and bp cuff, correct? Those have to be purchased separately? I couldnt find any information on that site as far as what is in the student kit...

The kit has a BP cuff, not a stethoscope. The BP cuff gave a few people issues last year if you want to buy your own, but it's in there. Most of what is in the kit is things for lab - NG tubes, IV supplies, needles, practice insulin/ampules, catheters, wound dressing kits, etc.
