The deadline is the last Friday in March. From now on I going to open my options because I am now aware competition is pretty fierce for jobs; for some reason I just assumed a job was going to just appear and float down in my hand like a feather, how naive. BTW I graduate this upcoming May. I am starting to get pretty freaked out about jobs now. And, have you all heard anything about Scott & White? Seton was my first choice, but I'm just making more room.

I interview on Friday.

The recruiter had told me she had scanned 50 applications and had 30 more to go. So I'm guessing they took the first 50 and are interviewing those. I think our chances are very good but if they do not fill all position first round they will go to 2nd choice people from what I understand.

Seems like they did not get a lot of applications compared to hospitals like Seton but I am surprised that they don't have more since this is a very good hospital and only an hour north of Austin. Everyone in my class wants to stay in Austin and are not willing to go to Temple. Everyone I know and talked to who have worked at Scott and White loved it.

I cannot wait:hrnsmlys:

Im from California so Im used to applying to jobs (like UCLA) that get 3,000 applicants for 40 positions! But, I've ALWAYS been in love with Texas and really, really, want this job! i have family and friends in the area that have nothing but good things to say about it. i hope they hire us!! i am thinking that even if i dont get ICU then I will apply for the Med-Surg positions... the hospital seems amazing and it would be an honor to start my career there!

how long was it before any of you guys were contacted for an interview after you applied and mailed your packets?

I have a interview tues for the OR internship, I filled my app out at the beginning of March but didnt turn the packet in until last friday so I guess I missed out on the ICU. Has anyone applied for the OR internship or know how many spots they have available?

Im more interested in acute care rather than a specialty. Does anyone have an idea on when I should start applying? I dont graduate until June 23rd, so Im thinking that now may be a little too early.

Application states due by last Friday in July for September start. The internships open on the 1st of the month however it is dependent on when the position is posted online. Not all units will offer positions.

I would be looking at the post a week before and watching daily until it appears. Also you can e-mail the recruiters and see when they would go up. The recruiter K.B was awesome.

They cannot send your applications to managers until the packet is complete. Make sure you get your faculty reference forms from the site filled out ahead of time so you are not scrambling to find someone. I did mine 6 months before.

I would get the application in as soon as possible and not wait till the last minute or week.

I am also coming from California and was called for an interview for the OR internship position. There are very few new grad programs in California, so I was so excited to hear from S & W, even though I've never been to Texas! I am doing a phone interview with them Monday morning at 7:45am. I would have flown out, but flights last minute are super expensive and I am working during the week. I'm nervous about the interview too, and I really want to get the position! I don't mind moving across the country and making the 2 year commitment to them if it's a good hospital and will provide me the training. That's all I need! The director told me there were 6 spots available and 57 people applied. I'm not sure if they are interviewing all 57, but still- the odds are so much better than California and I'm really hoping that I get it! Any advice on the interview process? I've never done a phone interview and she told me there would be 3 people on the phone. I hope it goes well!!

I was in the June 2011 ICU internship at S&W (see the thread for that cohort). I moved from NJ for the job and I absolutely LOVED the internship and LOVE S&W. The staff in all the units (SICU, CTICU and MICU) are all nice and great and do not eat their young (which is key being a new grad nurse).

For the one that was concerned about graduating after the internship starts, I graduated after the internship started but I let them know that during the interview and they were fine with it. If they want you, they will make an exception for you.

Good luck to you all!

How did the interview go?

I got an interview with the Children's ED! So excited and nervous!!

Yay! You'll do great xandarosa!

Congratulations! :hrnsmlys:

This waiting for interviews is killing me. I am guessing that they will choose the top 30 scores for ICU and call on Friday after final interviews? I cannot wait till next Monday. I interview on Friday and I am excited because I want to work here but nervous I won't get it.
