The deadline is the last Friday in March. From now on I going to open my options because I am now aware competition is pretty fierce for jobs; for some reason I just assumed a job was going to just appear and float down in my hand like a feather, how naive. BTW I graduate this upcoming May. I am starting to get pretty freaked out about jobs now. And, have you all heard anything about Scott & White? Seton was my first choice, but I'm just making more room.
So I am running into trouble with my application. It will not let me proceed until I have entered my certification number for my BLS, and others. However, I don't see a certification number on my card....only testing center ID#, and instructor ID#. How did you guys get past this feature--or was I issued incomplete cards?
First, I have to apologize for my spaghetti brain. I started at S&W in June 2011, not June 2012! I have been doing a lot of things these past few days and just realized that I put the wrong information. I have been at S&W for 16 months.
Okay, so you made it through and landed a position with Scott & White. Looking back, do you have any advice for people applying? Are there certain assets that you may have noticed that they are looking for?Oh, and being that I am not originally from Texas either, how has the adjustment been? My family has already moved there this past July and they are just waiting for me to graduate to be reunited. However, I have not had the chance to really get a feel for it myself yet.
The only advice I can give is BE YOURSELF. The people that were selected from my internship and the internships that followed are all different, from different backgrounds. I can't even say what they want because they didn't choose any one particular prototype. I can say you should definitely show your ambitions, your determineness. What can YOU bring to S&W?
The adjustment has been big. You have your family here so that will be helpful. I didn't know anyone here, no family or friends so it took a bit of time to adjust but I had no real problems. But, it is definitely different here. I would certainly visit before moving.
By the way, I read on another thread that you can actually apply to more than 3 positions. It stated that you can only have 3 listed as "applied" at a time. Once a position has been "routed" you can fill its slot. Not sure if this is correct since it is all secondhand information, but it may be worth exploring if you are interested in many areas. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks, Shiner50. ICU is #1 preference for me, but can't decide upon best fits for 2 and 3.....Mostly because I really, really want #1. : )
