anyone actually get good grades in nursing school?

Ohhh heck yeah some of us are A students or very close to there!

A student.

In my class of 50-some students, we had about 5 or 6 graduate with GPAs of 3.85 or greater.

I got good grades, A&B's; no C's in my nursing classes but I got C's in some pre-req classes.

I found that my nursing classes were actually easier than my pre-reqs once I got the hang of exams and studying for the classes.

You'll be great. Just remember why you're there, and don't let the competitive nature of some students get to you.

there is no dishonor in a C, it is passing. I wanted to go to grad school, and Had to make a B or higher. My science courses put me over the bar. I guess I bloomed in college. My undergrad av was 3.75. Also remember I clepped 27 hours of the first 2 year requirements.

I found the nursing classes to be harder than the tough sciences only because our instructors had a nasty habit of putting 4 correct answers for every question. Let's see, which way was the wind blowing when she wrote that one?

Thanks for that! I was overloaded with science classes when I went back to school -- A&P, chem, pharamacology. BIG mistake. I had tough teachers and learned a lot, so I'm not ashamed to say I struggled when I first went back to school.

The ADN program I was in was would "drop" questions from exams (when those who whined most whined the loudest) and that drove me nuts, seeing as I never benefitted from the dropped question(s)!

Oh well. I'm completing an RN-BSN program now and my grades are better, A's so far. Experience really is the best teacher.

So Far so Good... A Student Here!

Ditto...Almost an A student (made an 88.9 last semester!). The hardest part for me, was the FIRST test. I didn't know how they would make it out. The teachers like to resemble NCLEX questions, which often do have several right answers, but one best answer. So far, have about an 83 avg. this semester, but it's harder, and I'm taking anatomy. With good study skills, you'll do great. -Andrea

Most of us were A students coming in, prereq's and all to get into the program. REMEMBER: No one looks at grades -- they look at whether or not you pass your NCLEX! This school is hard, A's are very rare. BUT the NCLEX pass rate is in the 90th percentile, often 100% of classes pass the first time. THAT is what matters in school for nursing, not whether or not you make A's. Hopefully your school will use HESI's or other standardized national tests to see how well your class is doing. THAT is what you need to judge yourself by.

The school could lower their standards, pass out A's to students and fail a lot less of them, and then have them fail the NCLEX. What good would that do??? I would rather have my B's and a few A's and pass than be an A student who fails the boards.

It depends on the course, too. Some are an easy A, others require blood, sweat and tears for a C. My motto is, if you've done your best, that is the best.
