Hello everyone,
Keep coming on here after long gaps of being AWOL. Hope all is well on herewith everyone?, works been very busy and I'm now working back in the outpatients department after another bad experience on the ward i was working on...keep seeming to have bad experiences with bullying managers where i'm based, except for in outpatients where i have now gained my confidence and self esteem back...
I am curious to know has anyone succeeded in making up hours for the uk, I know that stenberg college in canada no longer offer the course .City university I think do offer one...I need to take the plunge now and just do the course...has anyone done it and found it rather hard working fulltime too?? Guess its just motivation really?

hi dayo, I am just about finished course at Brighton Uni but as I live in Scotland i have no contact with the uni itself and doing it all distance learning. My 2nd attempt at course work has to be handed in on 22nd may and I have found uni to be less than helpful!!! do you or anyone else know what will happen if I fail the course through the academic side of things? I have completed all the practical hours and this has all been verified by the uni, will this be recognised on my transcripts? look forward to hearing from you, Joanne
sorry that you failed. l also failed the first time too. The questions are very confusing. l hope you pass the second time, because if you don't l think you can appeal. God forbid you don't pass, appeal and contact me. l still have a copies of my assignments. The questions may be different but the format l am sure is the same.
Good luck
Hi, just to let everyone know....Brighton Uni will be stopping the 'making up hours' course in the next semester. They have found it not to be as popular/financially beneficial as they first thought. Maybe if they promoted the course a bit better instead of doing it through OGP only it may have been more beneficial to them and the prospective student, especially since OGP have put all applications to the USA on hold!!!.Hope this helps, Jo

I totally agree with you JoJo and i told the module leader that when I spoke to her, they are not promoting it at all and not many people know the course exist. Not everyone needs a nursing agency to represent them.
Hi everyone,
Sorry I was gone for sometime but am back now. I ordered my transcripts and i have them with me. funny enough i do have more than enough clinical hours but i am lacking theory hours so i was wondering if anyone can help me out on this. is it possible if i do a distance learning 20 credit course each with Open uni qualify as my hours for paeds and mental health. I asked and the advisor from OU said that the transcripts will not state number of hours only how many credits achieved. but to achieve these credits i will have to do roughly a nine month course (300 hours each). i have tried and cant find any community colleges in GA that will enroll me as a guest student. I am stuck and dont know what to do. pls help with some suggestions.

In order for the transcripts to be accepted in the US they must be with a recognised school of nursing and for UK nurses they must then be verified by CGFNS (I believe Vermont BON is the only exception). I have PM'd you some additional information which I know will be able to help you achieve what you need. Let me know if you need any more info. :)
hi suzanne, i am to are interested in this move as a nurse, however i did happen to notice that u mentioned a 6 week programme which seems to be easier in making up the hours required for the us requirements.. would you be able to give me some more information on this.
ps i noticed this post was in 03 6 years to late.
much appriciated.

yes, the course is still running. l think you have to call the module leader. she is the module leader for this course. . l am sorry to tell you, you have to go thru o'grady. o'grady is a nursing agency.l did not come to usa with o'grady, l already have a green card. you can't make-up the hours with an agency. l was also suppose to come thru another agency. they packed up and l was able to come by myself.
good luck.
mod note. as per terms of service please do not list contact details and names but use the pm system
