Just wondering if anybody went to or is going to Keiser University's nursing program?
It all comes down to you when it comes to taking the class. Would you like to bite the bullet and get the class done early and out of the way to be on the waiting list quickly or wait another semester to get into the program? In my case, I bit the bullet and took the class because even though it was fall of ..... I was not going to start until May two years after that. So I just took the class to get it done and start working to save up some money in order to get ready for the classes. Lo and behold I was luckily enough to by pass a whole Jan class and was able to start the following fall. So I just had to wait out a year and took about 4 classes in between to finish pre-reqs. Not too bad since I was able to retake some courses in order to keep my GPA up. It's your decision. Take it or wait it out. Depends on how fast you want to get done with nursing school. I think in the advisor case is that it may be cheaper in the long run, because each day not working as a nurse is about (not sure) clinical 8 hours is about 150 bucks. So in his weird way of telling you is that it will be cheaper to finish school as quickly as possible and graduate to jumpstart on your career. But I will repeat. ALL COMES DOWN TO YOU.
why did you have to wait 2 years? my situation is different, I only need microbiology
I was told that the january program is full, and that I can get into may, and that maybe a seat may open for january
I cannot relay on maybes
I will be completing micro in december at broward college, and I'm taking the TEAS on june 12th. They already have my transcripts.
What if I bite the bullet, as you say, get on waiting list but no seat opens up for january, and I can only get in for the may 2013 program?
then, if there is no guarantee that I can make it to the january program, there is no benefit in taking this class at keiser, especially considering the fact that I won't be getting any money, in fact, I will get into debt for just one class
I'm also unemployed right now .. I finish micro in december and could still make it to the may program, that is 4 months
a girl that posted here was accepted mid march, and she is in for the august program
I did not wait 2 years. It's just that it was a long wait list and in addition to the waiting list, I was retaking 3 of the science courses in order to boost up my GPA in order to continue my education which I am applying for AS to BSN program. It varies on each Keiser campus. Like I said, I was lucky enough to by pass a whole class in order to start 8 months earlier than plan. Reason, how I got in so quickly? Well I attended a university before Keiser and got all my pre-reqs done and then I was able to pay my tuition. It all depends on that too, if you can pay for it and finish ALL the classes to have first dibs. The advisor will call you and let you know if there is a seat opening and ask if you want to accept or decline. I'm just telling how I was able to start the program. Just stating a fact.

I went to keiser and I'm scheduled to take the TEAS in 1 month
I still need the microbiology requirement. I was told that the august 2012 and january 2013 nursing are full, and that I could get in for the may 2013
Advisor told me that they will not put me in the waiting list unless I take microbiology in keiser, because is unfair to their students lol is this true? I told him that I'm planning on taking micro in the fall at Broward college, and he told me that if I were to do that, then even if I pass the TEAS, go through the interview, I will not be accepted nor put on the waiting list until I complete that class (december), because I still havent completed the microbiology, then he told me that if I take it now at keiser (1 month class), then I can be on the waiting list for may or even january (if a spot opens up) ... it seemed to me like was trying to convince me to spend money there for just 1 class .. that one class is $1800
in broward college micro and lab is $400 lol ... he was trying to convince how it would be cheaper in the long run to take that class at keiser now .. but reality is that if I don't get accepted for the january (which is currently full), then is not cheaper in the long run .. also since is summer, I will not get grants, I would have to get a private loan for that one class, but in broward college I'm getting full grant in fall, which includes refund that goes to my pocket ..
what if I take micro at keiser now, and then don't make it to the january program
then it makes no sense to get in debt for just 1 class, when I would be starting at may anyway
and even if for some reason I don't make it to may, then is august ... considering I don't have a job right now, i'd rather wait a few months, rather than getting into debt for just one class and start "sooner" if the january opens up that is
